We finally get our first look at the solo film debut of Black Widow with Marvel Studios releasing this first trailer in the wee hours of this fine Tuesday morning on December 3, 2019. While the film isn't set to release until May 2020, this was a pleasant surprise, even though I'm kind of surprised that they took this long to show us SOMETHING after announcing the cast members a while back at the D23 expo.

Like I mentioned on Facebook earlier, my biggest takeaway was how lame Taskmaster's (if that's supposed to be him) costume looks. Call me nuts, but I have a feeling that the twist (or swerve, bro...) is going to be that's Clint Barton/Hawkeye crossing paths with Natasha for the first time. Those familiar with Taskmaster's comic book history should know that he trains soldiers and aspiring spies to fight like him, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch that Natasha and Clint first cross paths from their infamous Budapest reference here as enemies.

I wouldn't be surprised if Natasha's sister is set up to be her successor/replacement on the new Avengers roster either. Her and Natasha seem equally matched, so I don't think that the Avengers' skill set would be diminished in regard to Nat's "sister" joining their roster. I thought Red Guardian's costume looked pretty bad ass and suited David Harbour joining the MCU properly.

I can't say that a Black Widow film was something that I wanted, but I'm anxious to see how this plays out.
