PREVIEW -- TEKKEN 7 - Fahkumram, Ganryn, DLC Tekken World Tour Finals Reveal Trailers | PS4, X1, PC

During the Tekken World Tour finals on Sunday, December 8, 2019, producer Michael Murray and Katsuhiro Harada took the stage in Bangkok Thailand - and in traditional fashion, hyped up the crowd with some hot TEKKEN 7 announcements and trailers for the newest additions joining the TEKKEN 7 roster.

At first glance, I thought this was a new version of Bruce Irvin from Tekken 2, but as the trailer went on, I could tell this dude is in his own element. He's like Tekken's own version of Street Fighter V's Necali in a sense - a savage, untamed beast of a man honed to perfection in combat. About time they made up a new character to give Bryan and Craig a run for their money in terms of intimidation.

I had honestly forgotten about Ganryu's crush on Michelle Chang way back in Tekken 2 until Tekken Tag Tournament 2 came around. It's funny to see he's moved his affections towards "stanning" for Julia Chang's streaming efforts in Tekken 7. I got a good laugh out of this - more than I thought I would have initially. I think Ganryu's a character that no one asked for, but this was funny nonetheless.

Without a shadow of a doubt, I know most players are going to flock to this character. Out of the three reveals, this is the one that got me the most hype, even though they had to give him the most stereotypical "black" name ever. I can't wait to see what people do with this character in high level play.

All of this will be available TODAY as of the publishing of this article.

PREVIEW -- Tekken 7 Season 3 Teaser + Zafina & Leroy Smith Character DLC Reveal Trailers

Tekken 7’s next season is shaping up to be a wild one. At Evo 2019, Bandai Namco revealed first details about season 3, revealing that Tekken 6’s ancient martial artist Zafina will return for Tekken 7, and that the game is getting a brand-new fighter, Leroy Smith.

There was some confusion during the live venue during the Tekken 7 finals as there was a snippet that aired off-stream that allegedly teased Solid Snake could be joining the game. That created some confusion throughout the crowd.

EVO staff had to speak up to clarify that "joke" they did.

Season 3 Incoming - Free Update Highlight

Harada is promising brand new moves for every character in the game along with the usual balance changes. At this point, I think they should give characters multiple Rage Arts and Rage Drives to spice things up even further - unless that's in the plans already. I haven't played Tekken 7 since before Geese Howard dropped, so I wouldn't have the foggiest idea on what changed or what

Returning Character: Zafina

If her ending from Tekken 6 is canon to the main storyline, then I think she has been infected by Azazel after his defeat by Jin Kazama. That would explain her new clawed arm mechanic story-wise. While I'm excited to see her return in Tekken 7, I would be lying if I said that I enjoyed fighting against her freaky playstyle. She was up there with Xiaoyu and Eddie Gordo/Christie Montiero as my most hated Tekken character match-ups.

New Character: Leroy Smith

At first glance, I thought this was going to be a trailer/reveal for Wang or RZA's character from The Man With The Iron Fists. I'm glad that it's a brand new character and a black one at that. I couldn't help not laugh at the name though. Could have been worse. He could have been named Otis... (Laughs) One of my buddies said it's Bushido Brown's daddy from The Boondocks in Tekken at Grandmaster status.
