Chronicles of a Fed-Head: Hanging Up The Boots

I don't know why, but two months after I closed my e-federation for roughly a decade, Ground Zero Wrestling Association (GZWA), I feel compelled to tell why I decided to walk away from the game of e-fedding.

For those in the know, I'm not going to lie and blame this on others, this was my biggest mistake in a laundry list of mistakes of being a fed-head. And here I thought it wasn't going to get any worse than some of the stupid shit I did starting out or throughout my run of handling (or rather mishandling) ZXWWF. If you want the 411 on that story, it's in the archives of the Chronicles of a Fed-Head label on this blog. There's no need to retread familiar territory on this entry.

I'll go in-depth on my time of running GZWA during it's ups and downs at a MUCH later date, but for now, I'm just going to focus on the why's of why I decided to hang up the boots so to speak.

As many of you know, my decision to leave came after my costly mistake to allow James Ceno into my e-federation.

I had worked with him in the past on a collaboration storyline, grooming the newcomer Ariel Summer to being a wrestler studying and training under our characters at the time. Ariel Summer flaked out on us, despite all of the work we put into writing character development pieces and helping the handler out with content to use for their roleplays, only to reveal themselvs as resident troublemaker that I'm sure everyone has heard of in their e-fed travels one way or another - Travis Blake/Taryn Willow/Natasha Rose. The guy handles so many characters that I'm sure you know who he is since he gets around. Long story short, the guy had stabbed me in the back in the past and I didn't want anything to do with him, especially after he catfished to get back into my comfort zone and earn my trust under false pretenses. So yeah, Ceno and I had bonded briefly over working together in that collaboration and our mutual disgust with having our free time wasted.

A short time after that, the e-fed that Ceno was part of, Carnage Wrestling, would blacklist him out of the company along with the community as a whole for forcing a sexual assault/rape storyline onto his peers. After the altercation with Travis, I honestly didn't have any interactions with him before this point. I just know that he flat out stopped talking to me after that point. To this day, I have never read the subject manner in question, nor have I heard the full scope of the incident. Carnage Wrestling was wise to wash their hands of the situation entirely and remove him out of the equation.

In retrospect, I should have done the same thing. Instead, he pops up out of the blue on Twitter under a different account around the start of May 2020. He's upfront with me (as per someone's humble suggestion who will remain unnamed) and tells me who he is and doesn't try to lie to earn my trust like Travis did. That resonated with me. "Maybe he's learned his lesson?" I thought. I didn't just allow him to join my fed in one fell swoop. No, I expressed to my members if it was going to be a problem then they had the floor to speak up about it without any repercussions. Only ONE person spoke up and they got blocked by James Ceno on Twitter as a result. That should have raised a red flag for me right there, but I let the snake into my e-fed home anyway.

At the time, I was running the first G1 Climax of its kind in a way for GZWA. I was having problems managing it from top to bottom. People kept dropping out of it since it was on a weekly schedule instead of our normal twice a month booking schedule. My former World champion had to drop out due to personal reasons and I was left with a gaping hole in terms of writers on that bracket/block. So of course I recklessly accepted Ceno into my e-fed to fill that gap since I knew he could write roleplays from collaborating with him in the past. I got caught up in this delusional idea in my head that GZWA will be home to his redemption story of sorts, both in-character and out-of-character for his previous misdeeds. That's EXACTLY where I fucked up royally.

I'm getting a little ahead of myself but I should rewind the clock back to October 2019. That was the month where my grandmother died. I hope I don't get any slack for using that image above, but the quote is exactly what reminded me of her. She was a very religious and spiritual person and instilled those teachings onto her eight children and her grandchildren. There's not a single day that I don't think about her old nay-sayings and home remedies. I still miss her very much, but at that stage of pancreatic cancer, I'm just glad she's not in pain anymore, especially right now during this global pandemic. It would've been too much for her right now.

I brought her up because the week of her demise, I had results to work on for GZWA that I ended up postponing until the 20th after the news of her demise. During that week and the one that followed with her funeral right around the corner, it was the first time I seriously thought about why the hell am I still putting up with this game? If it wasn't for the Divinity Unlimited side project/collaboration that I had started the year prior, I was sure at that point that I would have kicked this hobby/habit to the curb a year or two prior. It’s funny too because almost every single time I brought that I was considering leaving the game for good, people rarely took me seriously.

I made a lot of friends through Divinity and reunited with other handlers/writers/roleplayers that I thought were lost in the ether for years prior. In that regard, it was a breath of fresh air. I know that a "talent management agency" wasn't an original idea, but I took pride in the fact that I brought so many roleplayers/handlers together who didn't have the opportunity to work together and/or collaborate otherwise. I never had the intention of recruiting people for a single e-fed, even though I should have - even though I know that competitive/promo-based roleplaying that GZWA was run under wasn't everyone's cup of tea at this point of the game in 2020. You mention that nowadays online and it sounds like you said Lord Voldemort in a Harry Potter novel/film as if it's that taboo. I get it though. Angled feds and micro feds are much less stressful and more rewarding for those people who rather map their entire feuds out in one go instead of leaving their fates up to booking and/or judging for winners.

At the time, I was struggling to transition GZWA from being a traditional roleplay-based e-fed to being a hybrid between angled and roleplay-based. In retrospect, I felt that the move was a colossal failure. We were leaning more on the old scheme of things from show to show and I hold myself responsible for not enforcing the new rules more because I was genuinely scared of driving off the few reliable and consistent members I had at the time - at least the ones who committed to participating to regular deadlines and contributing to the results regularly.

As you can see, it's becoming a pattern. I have been failing to realize on multiple fronts that I have been failing to put out the best ideas and executing them as well as they should have been. I was doing nothing but frustrating myself more and more. Whether it was trying to decide what direction to take my own characters, such as pitching a World title feud with the newly crowned champion to put her over to setup a potential descent down into darkness for my mainstay character, Mariah, or trying to come up with a feud that was worth Seras Collins' time and effort after she agreed to coming into my e-fed to potentially continue what we started in Hybrid Wrestling the year prior. I honestly felt like I was wasting Seras' handler's time as I couldn't cook up not a single idea to get the ball rolling. This was already after I shat the bed on booking Aphrodite Noel's tenure in my e-fed for the first few months. In retrospect, I clearly didn't know what I was doing. I should have walked away from this game ages ago. In my stubbornness, I didn't want to quit. I didn't want to give up. If I gave up, then I would be a quitter and everything that I have done with this e-fed and my contributions to this game as a whole would have been all for nothing. I wouldn't be the fighter like my grandmother was in her final months. I thought if I just kept powering through all of these shortcomings and mishaps, that everything would be alright. I thought that if I could keep drowning myself into my work, all of this bad stuff would stop happening. That was childish for me to think that, especially once the global pandemic AKA COVID-19 consumed our entire way of life.

It was here when I got the crazy ass idea to run my own G1 Climax for GZWA. That would end up being one of the last nails in my coffin so to speak. Traditionally, I had GZWA booked for shows usually once or twice a month as my schedule would allow. It was pretty laid back and my members liked it for the most part. This tournament threw a monkey wrench into that as it required the competitors in the tournament on a weekly commitment. I ran it in alternating weeks with the two blocks on alternating weeks, thinking that would ease it up a bit on those who were committed to participating. It quickly devolved into a clusterfuck as people got confused on when the deadlines were, what week was their match, and so on, so there were a ton of no-shows and/or late submissions if any in terms of participation. I was losing my patience and growing frustrated by the weeks that went on since I was writing those shows every week primarily on my own.

Bless my staff members' hearts, but I wasn't dropping my workload in their laps. Angel and Sam offered to help me write shows, but I rather do it myself since I knew where people were going with most storylines and it tended to be more work for me to change stuff that didn't gel with the rest of what I had already written on my end. That isn't a knack against their talents, just more factors to contribute to my own growing Pygmalion Syndrome (Google it) at this stage of being a fed-head. I was cranking these shows out only to immediately start on the next without giving myself a break nor a breather. That only contributed even more to the unnecessary pressure I was putting on myself to make each set of results better than the last until I started lashing out at my members for no showing/lack of participation in the tournament that they signed up for. I brought this problem onto myself and it all came crashing down like a ton of bricks. My members' own personal dilemmas and problems caused a few to drop out of the tournament while others were unable to contribute at all for weeks at a time from issues stemming from lack of internet access, family matters like my own, etc. It became a clusterfuck to micro-manage, even though I tried, especially for the few people who were cranking out excellent roleplays for each "night" of the tournament blocks. Once again, I only have myself to blame for this. My own members warned me of this massive undertaking running a unique tournament like this would only burn me out and it did just that - all because I was too stubborn to ask for help and wanting to do everything myself. Bobbi Jackson's handler (GZWA's reigning World Champion at the time) implored me to take a break and I didn't, thinking that if I would only get to the point where I finally had time away from normal job (FYI my job never sent us home for COVID-19 and pegged us "essential" workers for coming into work, despite working for a college campus. I'll never understand that shit to this day, but obviously, it's a manner well above my pay grade to understand...) for a week or two that I could just sit back and detox a bit from this game and let my sanity breathe a bit. At that point, that's where I was like two more weeks and it's all gravy on this vacation, but that's where we come back to James Ceno.

Like I mentioned before, I pegged him as a quick band-aid to fill in for a departure to the tournament of one of our former champions dropping out of the tournament due to his own ongoing health issues. I was convinced that I could offer Ceno this spot in the tournament and it would be his shot at redemption. Call me an optimist, call me naive, or just call me stupid, but I can't help to look for the best in people, especially after all that's happened in 2020. What happened next was when things took a turn for the worst. On the morning of June 25th, I woke up at 5AM like I normally do for work and glanced at my laptop. I sleep with it next to me on one of those stands next to my bed for I don't have to worry about knocking it to the floor in my sleep. I open up Tweetdeck and I see that there's a ton of notifications on the GZWA account. I'm skimming around and got back to the source where the victim of Ceno's foul play was publicly expressing her disgust with the situation that he was in my e-fed. I want to clear the air about this right now - I have absolutely nothing against this victim. That's what she was a victim to his actions in the same vein of the ongoing #SpeakingOut allegations in professional wrestling right now. To this day, I still don't even know the full scope of the situation. Regardless of that fact, her vocal expression of her feelings and trauma that she experienced in light of that situation are justified a thousand-fold. Like I said though, I skimmed what she had to say and offered a quick reply and made my one hour commute to work like I normally do every morning. By the time I got to work and logged back in at my desk in my work office, the whole situation had spiraled out of control. One of my staff members, Sam, is always trying to go above and beyond to get with members and bring out their best with his in-character interviews. Naturally, he was doing the same for Ceno as he offered that platform in-character. I didn't know that Ceno was going to take light of that situation with the victim and glamorize it into a character development angle. That was as jarring to me as it came to anyone else. Sam didn't know the scope of what he did. It was my fault for not informing him in detail of Ceno's past. At that point, I knew Ceno's victim was absolutely right about me and my e-fed, I was a fucking enabler to Ceno's malignant behavior. There were no excuses and no exceptions to that fact. I take full responsibility for that costly mistake. No one in my e-fed is to blame for that but me.

It scared me too as I thought back to the incident where I was running a storyline where Mariah was slowly losing her sanity about a decade ago. She was cutting herself in promos (something I had history with in my mid-twenties at the height of my depression) as her sanity slipped away. I stopped that angle cold turkey when someone messaged me privately that it was too hard for them to read as part of the storyline as it was triggering their own PTSD or a similar situation where they were cutting themselves with suicidal tendencies. The handler feared having a relapse and of course I stopped that part of the angle. I bring that up now as it gave me a hollow realization. My actions were doing the same thing to the victim of Ceno's actions. As long as he was in my e-fed and I was enabling him with a platform, I was merely causing this woman more and more pain, no matter what good intentions I may have had. I was mortified when I came to this realization. I didn't fucking belong nor deserved to be in charge of my e-fed or any for that matter if my actions and decisions were hurting people. That was never my intent in this game. I'm sorry to that woman that it took me that long to realize this costly mistake until it was far too late.

I could have simply removed him from my e-fed and moved on, business as usual, but in my head, I had tainted the trust of my members and the community as a whole, especially when I started reading the comments all over Twitter. GZWA wasn't going to survive nor bounce back from that. I thought about it long and hard as I sat in a meeting at work that morning. It was fuck up after fuck up after fuck up after fuck up with no end in sight. The only solution I had was to load the bullet into the chamber and put the bitch (in this case, GZWA) to rest - for good like Ole Yeller. And that's exactly what I did.

I know people within GZWA weren't happy to hear that decision, but I was done - mentally and physically. I can't fuck up anymore if I'm not part of the game anymore. As much as I hated seeing the many talented people in my e-fed go without an e-fed home, I wasn't going to have them be dragged through the mud for my own stupidity and carelessness. I'm sure there's a certain sect of the community that gets their rocks off every time that they see that they've driven off someone from the world of e-fedding to quit from their gang mentality and poor attempts at “cancel culture” in this game. For the record, I quit on my own accord because I was mentally spent on this game. No one didn't "run me out of the game" - I did that on my own volition.

For those wondering, I'm not giving up on people and I'm not giving up on seeing the best in people either. My only regret from all of this is not listening to people sooner before everything came to a boil. Well, that and how many snakes I had surrounded myself with and how quickly those so-called "friends" disappear once shit hits the fan. In that regard, I only have myself to blame, really. I'm naturally an introvert and I'm not overly social to begin with but I completely withdrew into myself over the last few months before the end. After I pulled the plug on GZWA, I completely stepped away. I haven't looked at the GZWA and my other e-fedding accounts (save for Divinity and Mariah's for the few people who I keep in touch with) since this event transpired. I didn't want to talk about it. I just wanted to walk away from all of this and just see what my life would be like without e-fedding in it and if people would still give a damn about me as a person without me being a fed-head. I still don't have all of the answers to those questions, but it's a day by day endeavor.

There’s the people who completely distanced themselves away from me and those that completely went ghost the second I shut the e-fed down. That was to be expected to be quite honest. I haven’t been the best at dealing with that myself if I’m perfectly honest. There’s people to this day - roughly 4-5 months after the fact - that I’m still leery about speaking to out of fear or potential backlash. I’m not going to lie about that. I distanced myself from the game altogether when this decision blew up in my face. I left roughly every e-fed related Discord server I was a part of and pretty much took almost all of my e-fed related accounts off of my Tweetdeck layout. Hell, there were people who barely spoke to me as it was when I was a fed-head out of obligation, so I knew that they weren’t going to speak to me after the fact. Of course, there’s still the random thirsty DMs and follows that I would get out of the blue from other handlers (DTF accounts mostly) that would try to pitch hooking up with one of my characters and that never died down even after I left this game (laughs). Seriously though, I’m flattered that people still even care to even contact me in that regard. The thing that hurts the most though are the folks who completely cut all ties with me, despite knowing me as an individual and my character throughout my e-fed tenure. I get it though - I fucked up and they had to wipe the dog shit off of their shoes and discard it away from any association.

On a positive note, I’ve moved on. I started writing and illustrating my superhero narrative that I never had the time to invest on fully as long as I was investing 95% of my free time planning and writing for e-feds and I’m really excited about the results thus far. The few people who wanted to keep in touch with me have kept in touch across social media and really opened my eyes on how much they care about me outside of this game, especially when I took that fact for granted before all of this went down. From what I hear from others still in the e-fed game, most of my old GZWA roster members and collaborators outside of it are doing well for themselves too. Life moves on. E-fedding moves on - with or without me and that’s absolutely 1000% okay.

The whole experience was a learning lesson for me and an eye-opener in more ways than one. I’m sorry to those that were affected by my poor decision-making and those friendships and/or relationships that were ruined as a result of it. I only hope that things are in a better place now for all involved.

Shoutouts & Special Thanks:

Sam: It's not your fault. Don't kick yourself for this.

Arkia: Thanks for being there for me during all of this and supporting me throughout my ups and downs in my personal/private life. Definitely my e-fed mom. I call you "Momma Mia Kia" for a reason :P

Serena: I'm sorry that we never got to get your return going into full swing when you were completely motivated and excited to get the ball rolling again, only for me to shut the whole thing down. Despite that, thank you for putting up with all of those days and nights of me rambling and ranting about e-fedding and wrestling as a whole. You'll always be the lil sis I never had.

Dani/Brooklyn: Thanks for putting up with my crazy behind throughout all of this. Don’t worry we still have many more stories to write about Xion and Brooklyn’s family before it’s all said and done.

Amanda Cortez: Definitely one of my longest friends in this game (along with Mel/Angel, Raven, and Amber from Caws.ws and ZXWWF) and thank you for your endless support from the beginning of this crazy ride to the end. I'm still blown away that you decided to hang it up in the game once I did too.

Bobbi Jackson: It was an absolute honor to have you as GZWA's final champion. Keep doing great things in this game, you have a much better head on your shoulders than I do for all of this.

Randy, G, Roxi, Esyel, Valkyrie, Syreena, Juliana, Jenny, Kylie, and so many more that I still keep in touch with on Discord and social media regularly: Thank you for showing me that our friendships aren't limited to the realm of e-fedding.

Everyone still a part of Divinity Unlimited: Thank you for sticking by my side and not letting my idea/concept die with my departure to the game. Many thanks to Roxi taking the reins for me.

CHRONICLES OF A FED-HEAD: Weighing In - "Should a Fed-Head win Championships?"

Don't look surprised. You guys know that every now and then that I take a break from writing about professional wrestling to talk about my journeys into the world of e-fedding - i.e. the proper term for those of us who participate in wrestling fans' equivalent of fantasy football. I haven't written much on e-federations since my series on the Rise & Fall of ZXWWF, but I want to talk about a common trend that I'm noticing in a lot of "big" e-federations that are shutting them down or causing them to fall apart at the seams.

It's come to my attention that once again that several fed-heads have be criticized for being exposed for wrong-doings as of late and being that you guys have enjoyed reading my endeavors in my first adventure into running an e-federation, I figured I’ll weigh in on this situation with my own opinion along with some examples from personal experiences.

Unfortunately, this won’t be citing anything directly from the e-federation(s) in question as I don’t know the entirety of the situation nor do I want to accused for taking sides. This is my own personal opinion and out of mere observation as a fed-head of a RP (Roleplay)-Based e-federation.

Quick backstory: So the fed-head in question assumed the role of multiple characters to establish a winning streak for himself at the top tier champion of his e-federation. None of his members nor staff were allegedly aware of this going on until it was exposed after one of their recent events’ results were posted.

In my humble opinion, this is fucked up on a lot of levels.

1. Normal Members NOR Staff Members were NOT aware of the fed-head playing multiple characters – This kills ANY, if not ALL trust between the fed-head and his members.
2. There’s GOOD and BAD reasons to make yourself the top champion when you’re running an e-fed.
3. The fed-head should be helping put OVER talent – not feeding his own ego.

In this article, this is going to be one of the RARE occasions I talk about my current e-federation, Ground Zero Wrestling Association (GZWA), instead of taking you guys down memory lane with stories ONLY about running ZXWWF as I need to cite examples from both to explore this situation.

1. Normal Members NOR Staff Members were NOT aware of the fed-head playing multiple characters – This kills ANY, if not ALL trust between the fed-head and his members.

In my humble opinion, that’s a bit hard for me to imagine that NO ONE knew that the fed-head was juggling all of these characters except for the fed-head himself. Then again, I was naïve like that before while running ZXWWF when my own staff members were hiding a member who a banned from underneath my own nose and allowing that said person to use their accounts – that ENTIRE dilemma is chronicled in my Rise & Fall of ZXWWF series so I won’t repeat myself here. Currently, I personally monitor the Security Log (on the Admin Panel of Proboards – I suggest that any fed-head only give their most trusted staff members access to this feature) for GZWA and keep a document of all of the possible IP addresses that my members visit the forum on. Don't mind me - I'm one of those crazy fed-heads who has a ton of handwritten notebooks, Excel spreadsheets, and Word documents of results, misc. notes, and data tracking on my years of e-fedding.

I use about 4-8 different IP addresses depending on which computer I log onto at work or the different family members’ homes I access the Internet from, but for most of your members they should have maybe 1-3 main IP addresses (similar format/numbers means they are within the same household/network). Any fed-head or staff member that doesn’t monitor this (at least to SOME extent) is careless in my opinion. Depending on the security settings of your forum, most members should be able to see an IP address along with a time stamp on EVERY post on that forum by default – unless the fed-head or staff has changed that setting.

ANY of these people who I notice who are sharing the same IP address, I contact them immediately via PM on the forum and ask them to give up the ghost. An added precaution that I take with my members is that it’s listed on their accounts ALL of the characters that they are playing in my e-federation as I tend to recommend that my members don’t sign up for multiple accounts per character. I’ve ALWAYS found that to be a stupid and cheap way to up your forums’ head count. If you have faithful members having a good time they will be more than happy to spread the word about your federation.

On top of that, there’s no secret between myself and my members of who I’m handling in the e-federation. I’m playing about 2 authority figures that are currently non-wrestlers, about 6-8 support characters (commentary, impromptu interviewers for those who aren’t handled by anyone else, backstage personnel, etc.), and about 6-10 in-ring wrestlers that range from filler/jobbers in our multiple divisions to my sole entry in our women’s division, who I’m sure a lot of who I know from social media that were directed to this article know, Mariah – who just happens to be our reigning champion over the women’s division.

Before you say I’m “defending” myself or any other fed-head, let’s move onto the next section of this discussion.

2. There’s GOOD and BAD reasons to make yourself the top champion when you’re running an e-fed.

The BAD reasons

• Giving yourself or any of your character(s) an undefeated streak

Let’s be realistic here. The Undertaker’s undefeated streak along with Crimson, Baron Corbin, Bo Dallas, or Goldberg’s streak (or ANY streak for that matter) are some of the biggest sore thumbs in professional wrestling that show that this sport is rigged/fake. Matches are predetermined results and even as a fed-head or a handler, there’s only so many times that you can win before people start questioning the legitimacy of your results or the decisions of you as the fed-head.

If only we could start "Bullshit!" chants from behind our computer monitors when we're reading results like that in e-federations...

• Feeding your own ego

There’s no denying it. EVERYONE in this game has an ego. You’re lying to yourself if you say otherwise. To be a GREAT fedhead, you have to leave that at the door. If you expect people to respect you or what you’re doing with your federation then you’re going to have to do some things with your characters that you wouldn’t be willing to do otherwise.

Everyone should know about the story where I had one of my own characters job to a SANDWICH, but even less know about the time I sidelined my top guy (for MONTHS in real-time) at the cost of putting one of our top talent over in a match to fuel their heel turn. I keep saying it over and over on social media, but this game is all about give and take. Don’t be a taker – GIVE back to this game that we all love so much. It’s not hard.

• Burying your own hard-working talent out of spite or any combination of personal emotions or grudges against any other handler

I’ll be lying if I said that I get along with EVERYONE that I meet in this game or that I like everyone, but I act like a professional. If you’re serious about putting in the work then I’m going to make you look like a million bucks in our storyline/feud no matter whether it’s win, lose, or draw. 10 times out of 10 I’m going to argue you to death to let me put you over, no matter what you say.

Sure, there’s a LOT more to list, but let’s just focus on these three.

The GOOD Reasons

• ENHANCEMENT talent

If your e-federation is small and just starting out then this is a great way to get things going before you have actual bodies floating around on the roster. I personally know a lot of people trying their hand at running their own feds and being a fed-head, but don't understand that it's a LOT of damn work. You're pretty much feuding with yourself until you get a nice, comfortable number of people to fill up your roster. Most amateur fed-heads don't realize this and give up under the pressure - people will come after they see how well crafted your stories are and how dedicated you are to telling the narrative. If it's obvious that you're willing to give others a chance instead of burying everyone who enters your e-fed underneath your own characters then you're already a step ahead of the game.

If your fed is just starting out, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the fed-head’s characters all holding gold as filler, but at the same time, some people won’t even like to see that when they join a new fed that opens.

Nowadays, most veteran handlers are more skeptical to this method, but a good old fashioned tournament is a nice way to crown first-time champions as well.

It just depends on how you want to level the playing field or how you want to lay the cards on the table for your particular e-federation.

• FILLER/TRANSITIONAL Champions

I recently ran an angle where CM Punk (who was handled by me) was fighting against the authority and worked his way up the ladder towards a title match for the top title in a multiple competitor match. In the confusion, he won the title – ONLY to have the authority figures swoop in and restart/continue the match to have him lose the title mere seconds later to a MUCH more deserving individual. CM Punk hasn’t been in the title scene since this event transpired as I used that “screwjob” (along with a non-title one earlier that year) to fuel his passion for dealing with the authority figures directly. CM Punk lost his opportunity to reclaim the title he lost on multiple occasions (easily putting over the new champion instead of chopping at his legs) but remains focused on his battle against the authorities.

• To FURTHER/ENHANCE a storyline

Let’s revisit WWE’s version of ECW where Vince McMahon won the ECW title from Bobby Lashley out of spite to the rest of the ECW Originals. Rewind the clocks back and listen to how much natural heel heat that he garnered from that title change from the audience. It got the WWE Universe more engaged and more proactive into the feud. If the fed-head can inspire that raw emotion to drive his/her members to step their game up to dethrone them then I see nothing wrong with it.

Not everyone has to go this route in terms of a storytelling narrative, but you get the idea.

3. The fed-head should be helping put OVER talent – not feeding his own ego.

This points back to why I was skeptical to having Mariah become champion in my own federation. For roughly seven years, I haven’t had Mariah win a title, despite her appearances in other federations. She was always (and will always will be…) my go-to character in terms of showcasing the best in women’s wrestling and bringing out the best in her female opponent. You can ask the former champion or any of my staff members, I was 2000% against having Mariah win, but they convinced me it was at the point where the storyline dictated a win or rather a happy ending for Mariah after all of the roadblocks and hurdles I kept throwing in her direction (I honestly had another one planned where Mariah would've been screwed out of the win just to setup her next big feud to put over someone else, but yeah, that's the type of giving person I am in this game...) to the point where people KNEW she wouldn’t win. I have a pet peeve about not letting my creative writing for professional wrestling be predictable. You know... – like just about 85% of what WWE does nowadays.

That goes without saying – I put in the work for the win. I roleplayed like everyone else alongside the rest of my members and consented to my own deadlines. I’m not part of the e-federation in question, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that fed-head did as well, but the way he went about it like he was trying to create this dynamic organically was complete bullshit. By any means, the fed-head shouldn't be chopping his/her members’ feet from underneath them nor should they taking a spot from any other deserving individual.

At the same time, I feel like there's nothing wrong with a fed-head's character(s) winning a title in his/her own federation. The fed-head shouldn't be limited on creativity with that particular handicap. If a storyline dictates it or it adds another layer to a conflict then by all means toss that element into the pot for a bit more flavor. There should be a little flexibility with this with the undercard (non-main event) titles/championships - meaning that the main event title (i.e. the top championship prize in your e-federation) should be held scared. You shouldn't tarnish that legacy by making yourself champion just to prevent other your other hard-working members from holding it. Much like the argument to not allow fed-heads to not hold titles at all, you're limiting your members' creativity. What will they aspire for or set goals to reach if there's one huge roadblock in their way, called your ego that no one is able to penetrate but you (the fed-head)?

We as fed-heads have to remember one essential thing while running these e-federations. We can win anytime we choose as we have the power to do so, but the greatest joy of this game is seeing that deserving individual win. Without question, we as fed-heads have great power in this game and it's our responsibility to use it wisely and to the benefit of the handlers who take the precise time of their lives to partake into these worlds that we have created. Fed-heads may created the body of e-federations, but the handlers of these many, many characters are the life-blood that keeps this well-oiled machine going. Without them, the fed-heads are nothing but puppeteers presenting a one-man puppet show to an empty audience.

In closing, I don't know personally what went down in that e-federation entirely but I hope whoever takes over or the members there move elsewhere where the fed-head is willing to give rather than take in terms of being a benefit to the e-fed community. I would hate to see this game die out completely thanks to people who are looking out for themselves rather than for everyone's best interests as a whole.

Chronicles of a Fed-Head: UNSCRIPTED -- Volume 2: RELOADED - Re-imaging Old Characters

Let's talk about a change of gimmicks, not for professional wrestling, but for e-federations.

Just the humble reminder that I do occasionally talk about the world of e-fedding, or rather fantasy wrestling, on this blog so bear with me.

The common question I get after the Rise & Fall of ZXWWF narrative is what happened to some of the numerous characters that I played over the years and if I did revive those particular characters, how would I do so. So you guys asked for it, I'm happy to answer that question and give some answers to that off the top of my head.

Feel free to sound off in the comments if you like what you see here.

Current Active Characters:

Xion Zeros (ZX)

ZX back in WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006
Xion Zeros, or rather "ZX", started off as Hardy Boyz (namely Jeff Hardy) and The Rock hybrid when I first created him. Over the last decade and a half, I've scrapped most of those obvious influences and I have him wrestling closer to my personal favorite black wrestler, Jay Lethal, more than any other black wrestler. There's still the influences from Jeff Hardy and The Rock, but they aren't as obvious as they were in the past. In my current e-federation, I have him as the company's principal owner since he has "retired" from in-ring competition.

In all honesty, I haven't seen a reason to have him step into the ring in a legitimate "physical" feud in years that interests me more than the stuff that I do with Mariah (see below), so I made Xion step back for Mariah could shine more. If I'm perfectly honest, I have more fun playing Mariah than Xion, especially as a fan of women's wrestling.

Xion's current iteration as the owner of Ground Zero Wrestling Association...
When I originally started playing Xion, I gave him a copy-and-paste Dwayne Johnson attitude, but nowadays, he's more like MVP (especially his current run in Impact Wrestling) - more than confident in his abilities and position of authority. I play him in a manner where he assumes that he's "untouchable" and always one step ahead of the opposition. I'm always looking to add more layers to his personality, but I'm sure that will come in due time. For those wondering, I have been using Nelly as Xion's picbase.

Mariah

Mariah is hands-down, my favorite character that I have had the pleasure of fleshing out over the years in e-federations. Before bringing her into e-feds, she was merely a boring Lita knock-off, but now she's a hybrid of everything I love about women's wrestling - past and present. I can't credit that to one person nor myself, but I owe her "evolution" to the numerous people I have had the pleasure of working with in e-federations over the years in feuds and storylines. I'm sure I already talked about that in-depth in the Rise & Fall of ZXWWF chapters, so I won't repeat myself here.

I stated it earlier that I enjoy playing Mariah more than Xion earlier and I suppose that I should state why. At the end of the day, I like women's wrestling MORE than seeing the guys slam each other around. Seeing two hot chicks go at it who are believably talented in-ring is amazing to watch. Besides, Mariah's personality is something I have taken great pride in crafting over the last decade and it's always a pleasure to see her interact with other ladies and gentlemen in the sport.

If I were to compare her to anyone in-ring, it would be close to Shawn Michaels' charisma, but I imagine her moving around the ring much like R-Truth (TNA-NWA years) while wrestling like Cheerleader Melissa and Low Ki in terms of ability. I'm currently using Justene Jaro as her picbase. I've had people describe Mariah to me as flawed, but lovable, so I'm glad that people enjoy her as a character. It makes me happy that they like what I'm doing with her.

Currently, she acts as the leader of all-female veteran stable, dubbed the Queen Bee Mafia, among the most unlikely of women becoming allies and best friends in the company.

The Enforcers (Dequan Wallace & G-Money Briggs)

Throughout the years that I have been playing the WWE games or just plain wrestling games in general, these guys have been pretty much my resident powerhouses to squash everything that come into their way. I know everyone has that one set of original characters on their game saves that have max stats just for fighting for fun, but never let anyone else play as them because they were just THAT damn good. The few times I have used these guys online in WWE games have ended with people ragequitting and sending me hate mail from the "pure domination" from these guys. I remember letting my college roomie fight these guys back in Here Comes The Pain and he almost tossed his controller through the wall out of frustration.

G-Money was influenced after all of the strong, big guys in wrestling in recent years, especially Brock Lesnar and Mark Henry. For laughs, I gave him the infamous Kung-Fu Straight Punch finisher in the older WWE games and it made me sad when THQ took that out of their recent entries. That forced me to rethink his moveset dramatically. His current iteration is more realistic than overpowered and comical, with influences still from Brock Lesnar and Mark Henry, as well as some obvious influences from D-Mob (Def Jam Vendetta and Def Jam: Fight for New York - namely because I love giving this dude an array of different powerbombs to use), Matt Morgan, and Ryback. I originally wanted Deebo from Friday to be G-Money's picbase, but Big Zeke (Ezekiel Jackson) looks like a really mean SOB, so I went with him for the long haul.

Dequan was a different entity altogether. I have to credit his creation to T-Bone as he saw it fit that G-Money have a partner in crime. Whereas G-Money was pure power, Dequan would bring that with hard-hitting speed. T-Bone's original concept meant that Dequan would have NOTHING but Spears and The Gore as moves, but that wasn't possible until Fire Pro Wrestling Returns came out in North America, so we settled for Dequan being Rhyno/Monty Brown hybrid. That's one of the main reasons why I decided to use Monty Brown as a picbase. The running gag between myself and T-Bone would be the rivalry that never ended between Dequan and T-Bone that originated after the fact that T-Bone would ALWAYS be knocked out in matches by Dequan with The Gore as his finisher.

For those wondering, I'm currently using The Enforcers as Xion Zeros' bodyguards/personal henchmen in my current federation, GZWA.

"They don't say much, but they fight like the dickens though..."

Kudos to anyone who knows where that quote is from...

Old Inactive Characters:

Matt | Psycho Sagus | "Lady D" Ashley

If The Enforcers were the Dudley Boys and the X-Terminators (ZX and T-Bone) were the Hardy Boyz, then Matt and Psycho Sagus were Edge and Christian in our heated feud across several WWE Games from 1999 to roughly 2011. In various e-federations, Matt and Psycho Sagus were resident jobbers that I used to put over other talent left and right. Eventually, I dropped them off rosters completely, but still used Psycho Sagus for comedy segments and Nemesis' "streak" (see below).

Ashley was created as a tribute to one of my close friends in college at the time and was ZX's kayfabe sister at a time where I put Mariah on the shelf while Ashley acted as the new blood in the X-Terminators (ZX & T-Bone in a mock version of the Hardy Boyz). In ZXWWF's early years, I booked her as a babyface rookie (who fought a lot like John Cena in his early WWE career on the Smackdown! brand) who slowly rose through the ranks who eventually feuded with some of the new incoming female talent that started joining shortly afterwards. In due time, I ended up dropping her completely in favor for playing Mariah and haven't gone back to her since roughly 2006. I didn't plan on bringing her back, namely for the fact that WWE signed Ashley Massaro at the roughly the same time and I didn't want to be accused of ripping her off, especially after she skyrocketed in popularity after winning the Diva Search that year.

Over the years, I have had a LOT of ideas on how to revamp these three characters.

With Psycho Sagus, I went through back and forth thinking about reviving him as a serious competitor in lieu of Chris Jericho or The Miz, or as comedy relief, like Eric Young. I ended up axing those ideas as there are FAR too many Miz clones in the world of e-fedding, then after that whole stunt I pulled where Sagus lost to a freakin' sandwich there was no way in hell no one was going to take him seriously unless I took him off the table for a few years. With Matt, I didn't have any ideas until I allowed my friend who I based Matt off of, customize the CAW himself on WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2010. He designed the character as a high-flyer, where I always made him a pure brawler in the style of Stone Cold Steve Austin or Road Dogg. This change REALLY got the gears going in my head.

Fate would have it that my idea to revamp these three characters would involve pairing them all up. The team of Paul London and Brian Kendrick (Spanky) rose to popularity in 2006, with Ashley Massaro acting as their valet.

When I saw this image, I knew if I were to revive these three characters, it would have to be as a single unit. The background story would have it that Ashley met up with Matt (London) and Sagus (Spanky) while they were touring the indies and the trio quickly became friends as they travelled the world to hone their wrestling craft. With their newly acquired experience from traveling the world, the trio would set any tag team division they are lucky to be a part of on fire. I'm 100% positive that I would axe that connection that Ashley was ZX's kayfabe sister too. I dunno what the hell I was thinking back then...

These three would also be prime candidates for a name change too if I were to use them in another e-fed.

Concubine

Concubine would obviously get a name change, as my old friend who she is based off of appearance-wise was the one who named this particular creation who made her first appearance on WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006. Mio Shirai would be a perfect picbase for Concubine as she's a dead ringer for my friend I originally modeled her after.

When I originally created Concubine, she had a moveset that was heavily-inspired by Tajiri at the time. If I were to revive this character, I'm positive I would research a lot of joshi wrestlers and give her a strong joshi moveset to work with to set her apart from the multiple Gail Kim rip-offs in e-feds.

Seriously, there's not enough Asian female nor joshi wrestlers in e-feds and it makes me sad. If I were to revive Concubine, I would like to change that.

Tiffany | Xander Ravage

Back in WWF Smackdown! Here Comes The Pain, just about ALL of my friends from my high school gang of gamers made themselves on my game save at some point. In that game, one particular friend made himself look like a goth version of He-Man and I shudder at the thought of trying to recreate that abomination in one of the newer WWE Games or within an e-federation.

Tiffany started off as a former love interest for ZX at the time, but much like my early iterations of Mariah, turned into a Lita-clone. She had a short run in ZXWWF, appearing in a few backstage segments before I trashed the character completely, despite recreating her in WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006 as a vampire.

That brings me back to the man that I dubbed Xander Ravage. So what I cooked up was a complete revision of his character to be coupled with my revamped Tiffany as two creatures of the night. So why better not use Kevin Thorn and Ariel (Shelly Martinez) as their picbases?

If I was to bring this duo back into an e-federation, I would surprise people and have them both as show-offs. Tiffany will be the eye-candy valet of course, while Xander would impress in the ring with a moveset heavily-influenced by Dolph Ziggler, Jimmy Jacobs, and Tyler Breeze.

Snow

Funny story about this guy. My friend that I based this character off of has appeared on my game save for WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW for ONE match and I deleted him as he was merely a hybrid of Rhyno and Rob Van Dam. Fast forward to present day, where that same friend of mine has trained to be an independent wrestler, but has taken time off to focus on college and work.

I won't disclose his real name for privacy reasons, but when I saw Bull Demphsey debut on NXT, I was thinking two things. 1) Somehow, this guy ripping off Michael Elgin AND Rhyno at the same time. 2) This dude looks like a dead ringer for my friend.

If I were to bring him into an e-federation, I would probably give him a similar gimmick to Bull, but use the same hybrid of Rhyno and Rob Van Dam that my friend used on the indies for his in-ring arsenal.

Amy Rose

When I originally created this character, she was meant to be a tag team partner with Ashley, much like the two girls I was friends with in college that I was basing them off of. Back at the time, I gave Amy Rose a moveset VERY similar to Chris Jericho, but I'm positive that I would give her an overhaul in this revival.

You don't EVER see anyone play a female character anything close to ODB/Jessica Kresa, so I want to remedy that situation and use her as Amy Rose's picbase to enhance the tomboy/not-so-girly-girl/Southern Belle gimmick I would give her. As for Amy Rose's name, I would more likely change that to avoid any confusion with her being related to Adam Rose.

Nemesis

The truth about Nemesis is that I originally found a CAW formula for Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 for WWF Smackdown! 2: Know Your Role and added him to my game save. My friends and I had such a blast with the character that he became an entity of his own that slowly gave his own identity in later WWE games over the years.

Nemesis, back in WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006

The sad part of this story is that I have NEVER found a good picbase to distinguish Nemesis away from his Resident Evil counterpart, nor one to connect to the horrifying figure I wish to portray him as now.

Nathan Simmons

This character came about after I jokingly based a character off a football jock I knew back in high school as a Goldberg clone during his WWE run. T-Bone and I used him as a protege of sorts of Dequan, since I had arranged him to be T-Bone's new rival since we were both beginning to bore of fighting G-Money and Dequan religiously.

After Goldberg's departure from WWE after WrestleMania XX, I quickly lost interest in this character. That is until I gave him an "All-American" gimmick and paired him with Emily (who abandoned T-Bone at the time) to get extra heel heat at the time. A few years later, the "All-American American" Jack Swagger debuts in WWE and I completely scrap this character as that guy is literally everything I wanted to do with this guy at this stage of my e-fedding career.

I found myself recreating him back in WWE '13 as a favor for a friend in another e-federation who wanted a male companion for her female wrestler, but bailed on the concept at the last second. This time around, I went for a Captain America-themed ring attire and a moveset heavily-influenced by Nigel McGuinness (namely the Tower of London as a finisher that I dubbed the Statue of Liberty), Kurt Angle, Jack Swagger, and Roderick Strong.

After Chris Evans' portrayal of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I thought he would be a great fit for this new iteration of this patriotic character if I were to bring him into an e-federation.

Heather

One of my throwaway ideas for Matt when I was brainstorming on how to revamp him over the years was to reimagine him similar to Bully Ray's solo career in TNA. Enter Brooke Tessmacher as Bully Ray's sexy valet while he was the leader of the Aces and Eights stable. I quickly axed this idea as it wouldn't be right as the guy who was basing Matt off of in real life, had a sister who I was basing Heather off of, so it would be REALLY awkward to run with this idea.

Instead, if I were to revamp Heather, who had a VERY brief appearance on my WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2010 game save, I would keep Brooke Tessmacher as Heather's picbase, but keep her in a manager/valet role for an up and coming Superstar for an e-federation, making sure that she distances herself from Matt and Psycho Sagus' blunders.

Sensational Mary

Behind Mariah, Mary's my second favorite female character to play in e-federations. She was originally named Scary Mary, but I changed her name to "Sensational" Mary as a tribute to Sherri Martel when she passed away as I adopted similar tactics and antics from her for Mary, as most men were afraid to face her as women.

Bianca Beauchamp is the current picbase that I have been bouncing around with for Mary, even though I have used Karen Angle Jarrett and Emily Deschanel in the past. There was even a point where I considered Joy Giovanni for the part as she wore a couple of attires that used for Mary in some of the older WWE games. GZWA (my current e-federation) suddenly has an influx of a LOT of red-heads signing up, so I want to change her up (again) if I were to bring her back into the mix of things there, whereas she acted as the federation's majority shareholder until she was dethroned in a power struggle.

If I were to bring Mary back full-time and as an in-ring competitor, I would use Krissy Vaine as her picbase in a heartbeat. Krissy Vaine represents The Beautiful People gimmick (along with Amber O'Neal as Team Blondage) before Velvet Sky (Talia Madison) and Angelina Love (Angel Williams) made it a household name in the wrestling world after they brought that gimmick into TNA after Talia's short run with it on the indies with April Hunter (T & A... get it?), so naturally it would fit into the valley girl/spoiled rich brat archetype I have seasoned into this character over the years.

For those curious about Mary's moveset, she was originally inspired by Christian Cage from his NWA-TNA run, but over the years, I have managed to add noteworthy moves from Maryse Ouellet, The Miz, Randy Orton (namely the Punt Kick that she calls the Beauty Mark) and her staple finishers have remained The Beauty Mask (Shelton Benjamin's Jumping Complete Shot) and Christian's Unprettier (It Ain't Pretty!).

MissMurdaMo

Ever since the emergence of Awesome (Amazing) Kong/Kharma, everyone tends to have their big scary black chick in their e-federations with her as the picbase. Instead, I'm going with Trenesha Biggers, commonly known as Rhaka Khan or Tigressa Caliente. Sure, I bandwagoned along the hype train for "Lady Batista" (my nephew's adorable name for Kharma...) and cooked up my own equivalent that I have not used in an e-federation since roughly 2005. There were a few times that I was tempted to pull her off the shelf, but so far I haven't had the urge to use this Amazon of a lady.

By the way, I didn't cook up the name. I can thank one of my old co-workers for that.

** T-Bone (Trey)

The ongoing joke between myself and my veteran members of my current e-federation, GZWA, that were in ZXWWF as well is that one of the color commentators on the broadcasts is named Trey "The Carter" Carter. Many have assumed that this is T-Bone on commentary, but I will dispel that assumption now and say that The Carter and T-Bone are two SLIGHTLY different characters. It's just an inside joke between myself and my best friend, who T-Bone and The Carter are based off of, who just happens to make some of the same toilet-humor comments that Carter makes during wrestling at times.

As for T-Bone, I wouldn't change a thing. My best friend has noted since the end of ZXWWF, T-Bone and Emily are retired from in-ring competition, so I'm respectfully keeping him out of competition in e-federations, but I have used him in a few segments here and there on GZWA, alongside his long-time friend and former tag team partner, Xion Zeros (ZX). I have been using Tyrese Gibson as T-Bone picbase for a while now and I'm positive that won't be changing anytime soon.

** Emily

Emily's "Miss America" gimmick back SvR 2006...
Much like T-Bone, I'm NOT the original creator of this character, so I respectfully wouldn't change anything drastically here. Well, not anything more the Miss America gimmick I gave her when I paired her up with Nathan Simmons briefly when I had T-Bone feuding with him back in WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006.

See the resemblance? Trust me, that was NOT intentional.
Kat Myers would be an excellent picbase for Emily, who T-Bone's creator has established to have a strong fitness and MMA background in her later years of WWE Games. Her last appearance was in WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2011, but I plan on using Emily for a few misc. appearances on GZWA's version of Total Divas, whenever we get around to starting that project.

Big J

Along with Matt and Psycho Sagus, Big J was part of the stable known as the Ultra Alliance back in the early days of my e-fedding career. Big J was essentially the "muscle" for their team to cover-up Psycho Sagus and Matt's failed attempts to succeed on their own. If I were to revive this character, I would have him unmask and use the late Bam Bam Bigelow as a picbase with a moveset similar to that wrestler, but with some influences from the late Test/Andrew Martin, Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero. I want him to be one of those big guys who shock people with some (limited) high flying ability while maintaining his power game. As for his personality, I don't know what attitude I would give him outside of the moveset.

** Gabriel Wingue

For those who were in ZXWWF, they should know Gabe here as one of the original pioneers of the XC (Xtreme Cruiserweights) Division, which was my cheap attempt at recreating TNA's success with their own X-Division, but within my own e-federation. Gabe was a huge asset in helping my original e-federation get off the ground, but by the time GZWA got going he was caught up in his own personal life to be much help.

He did trust me to do anything I wanted with Gabriel Wingue if I wanted to bring that character back for my own amusement in e-federations, so at least he gave me his blessing to revive this character if I wanted. Gabe always portrayed his character as an older wrestler, so I cannot see any other great picbase to use other than X-Division legend himself, Jerry Lynn, to represent him in an e-federation.
