PREVIEW -- Monster Hunter World: Iceborne - Title Update 5 Trailer

Get ready, Hunters! Title Update 5 storms onto #Iceborne Oct 1st at 00:00 UTC.

🐉 Fatalis
❄️ Arch-Tempered Velkhana
🌏 USJ Collaboration
👻 Fun Fright Fest

The closer we get to Fatalis' debut into the New World, the more nervous and anxious I get to this monster as a newcomer to this series. The Monster Hunter series veterans regard this monster as a harder kick to the family jewels than Alatreon could ever hope to be. I'm ready to tackle this challenge, along with Arch-Tempered Velkhana. FYI Velkhana was my personal favorite Elder Dragon that was added as part of the Iceborne expansion, so I'm excited to see the changes to this battle. I know a lot of people on Reddit have been clamoring for an update to the USJ Collaboration armor for Master Rank and it's great that we're finally getting that along with layered armor for the beloved Buff Body armor and Scarf armors. Last but not least, the Fun Fright Fest is another welcome treat with the Handler sporting a Morrigan (DarkStalkers)-inspired look with the Frankenstein Palico costume to boot. They should've just made the Palico look like Victor von Gerdenheim or Jon Talbain, but beggars can't be choosers when this stuff is coming to players for free.

It still makes me sad that this is the last free title update for Iceborne, but there's still some new content in the pipeline with a few more Arch-Tempered monsters left to face before the game truly winds down with Monster Hunter Rise on the horizon for players on the Nintendo Switch.

PREVIEW -- Attack on Titan Final Season | Official Trailer

With Eren and company now at the shoreline and the threat of Marley looming, what’s next for the Scouts and their quest to unravel the mysteries of the Titans, humanity, and more? Well, we’ll just have to find out when Attack on Titan Final Season comes to Funimation.

I saw people losing their minds off of this promotional poster last week, so I figured it would be appropriate to add to this preview post.

The Survey Corps ready for action in this first promotional poster for the Final Season.

The amount of people who were losing their minds off Mikasa's look here tells me how many people don't read the manga in any capacity. (Whistles) Boy, are you folks are in for a shitload of surprises and swerves. The poster is a spoiler of sorts too as it confirms that there's a time skip in terms of the progression of events of the story following the events of the end of Season 3. If I were to speculate, I'm going to guess that they are split this final season into multiple parts like the season prior because not even the manga has ended, even though they are getting close to that point.

God, I cannot wait for this to air later this year.

PREVIEW -- Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon | Official Announcement | VIZ

Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon arrives October 2020! Fate is in the hands of the next generation! 🌸

Learn more about #Yashahime, a brand new anime from the #Inuyasha universe: https://buff.ly/2XAy4Yg

It's almost time for the arrival of this Inuyasha sequel/spin-off anime following the daughters of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha. Like one of the comments in that video mentioned, there's definitely one thing that both Devil May Cry's Vergil and Sesshomaru have in common - they have a wealth of fans wondering this question right here: "WHO THE FUCK ARE THE MOTHERS OF YOUR KIDS!!!???" All jokes aside though, this seems like it will worth a look. Even though I was underwhelmed by Inuyasha: The Final Act as it glossed over a lot of the events leading to the finale of that series in comparison to the manga, I still loved Inuyasha - both the anime and the manga - for what it was worth and welcome this return to that world and the characters within it. I guess this will be the Inuyasha gang's equivalent of Boruto in the grand scheme of things.

PREVIEW -- PlayStation 5 Showcase Event Livestream & Trailers

Before PS5 launches this holiday, Sony PlayStation is giving one more look at some of the games coming to PlayStation 5 at launch (and beyond!). Sony PlayStation's next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners. Tune in this Wednesday, September 16 at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CEST to see what’s next for PS5. #ign #ps5 #PS5Showcase

“The legacy of the crystals has shaped our history for long enough…” Watch the exciting teaser trailer for the newest title in the legendary FINAL FANTASY series. FINAL FANTASY XVI is the next all-new standalone single player action RPG from Square Enix, coming to PlayStation 5. Follow us for all the latest on FINAL FANTASY XVI Twitter: http://twitter.com/FinalFantasyXVI Facebook: http://facebook.com/FinalFantasyXVI Instagram: http://instagram.com/FinalFantasyXVI #FF16 #FFXVI

My jaw was hanging on the floor from the start to the finish of this trailer. You CANNOT tell me that we will be seeing Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 or any sequels to that in any capacity by the time that this next console generation is coming to a close. This looks breath-takingly amazing. My only concern is whether or not have they learned their lesson from Final Fantasy XV in terms of combat and go with something similar to how well the combat in Final Fantasy VII Remake played out. I'm hoping for the latter TBH. BTW this is a PS5 exclusive, much like FF7R.

I'm definitely keeping my eyes out for this.

Experience the rise of Miles Morales in this gameplay sequence captured on PlayStation 5. Coming Holiday 2020.

The titular villain confirmed in this gameplay demo trailer is The Tinkerer. This iteration of the character is obviously female and seems to be sporting some futuristic weaponry for herself and her henchmen. Insomniac did display Miles' powers here to show off that he is unique in his own right and brings a variety of new skills to the table to distinguish himself from Peter Parker. Seriously though, how many times are they going to copy and paste that bridge sequence or Spidey struggling to hold shit together with his webbing? It's getting old from how all of the films and now the games seem to shoehorn that in now at every opportunity.

This scene was always a much more impressive display of Spidey's powers in a crisis than him holding something together with his webbing - at least to me anyway.

In a separate blog post, Sony announced that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be a PS5 launch game and cost $50. Not included in the event but announced separately was the fact that Miles Morales is also coming to PS4. What we didn’t get was a precise release date. The game is still only slated for “Holiday 2020.” The kicker is that a PS5 digital-only port of the original Insomniac Spider-Man game will be coming soon, but won't have a save transfer utility nor means to convert your PS4 saves into the new game.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I read that and went, then why the fuck should you even buy the PS5 version then if you want to continue where you left off?

Hogwarts Legacy is a new Harry Potter game coming in 2021.

I think this was the worst timing for anything announced on this show PERIOD, especially with the transgender controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling

Raven Software shows off new gameplay from the adrenaline-fueled opening mission in Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War, which is set in 1981 shortly after the events of the Iran hostage crisis. #ign #ps5 #gaming

I'm sure the COD fanboys are going to think otherwise but I think the FPS genre are at the end of their tether of how far they can push this genre. Pretty visuals isn't going to cut it to get me remotely interested in investing in these games. The biggest draw for these games are the multiplayer component when most people gloss over these cinematic set pieces scattered throughout the story campaigns in favor for that anyway.

Desc: Werewolves, witches, monsters, and mystery abounds in this gameplay trailer for Resident Evil 8. #ign #ps5 #gaming

This looks cool and all, but if it's another first person VR affair, I'm going to have to respectfully pass on this. I was nauseous from simply watching Maximillian stream RE7 on his Twitch channel, so I can't even imagine myself investing into VR tech in any shape nor form. That being said, I'm anxious to see what role Chris Redfield plays in all of this. His role in RE7 was minor until the DLC episode starring him came out, even though RE7 seems to be a reboot of sorts for the RE mythos. I wonder if they are going to have him be an antagonist this time around that is possibly infected by Las Plagas since there's a lot of callbacks to Resident Evil 4 here.

It seems like that this will have interesting effects of when and where you kill each target, much like with the original Crackdown, where it would have adverse effects on the remaining targets on whether or not how difficult it would be to take them down later on. Concepts like this I can get behind for a first-person shooter, but even this great idea has its limitations. How far can you take this gimmick before it gets redundant and/or repetitive like everything else in this genre? This would be one of the few FPS titles I keep my eyes on, just for the same reason I like the Borderlands series for their humor. This seems to be in the same vein as TimeSplitters or No One Lives Forever in that regard though.

DMC is back and better than ever in the series’ most SSStylish and most action-packed entry yet: Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition! New features include the addition of Dante's brother and arch-rival, Vergil, as a playable character, as well as Turbo Mode, Legendary Dark Knight, Ray Tracing, and more! https://www.devilmaycry.com/

Anyone who knows me personally knew that I marked the fuck out for this trailer, especially knowing that Vergil is arguably my favorite character in the series. At the same time, it pissed me off a little too when Capcom flat out said they weren't doing any DLC or any further work on Devil May Cry 5 when people asked them a year ago if they were doing a Special Edition for that game. I swear, I'm not taking anything this company says as gospel. DMC5SE will be available to owners of the original DMC5 on PS4 and Xbox One as paid DLC content at a later date, but it's set to be a launch title for the PS5 this holiday season. Everything else that you would want to know about this special edition can be found straight from the source from Capcom Unity.

Much like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, this title will be available to current-gen console owners, so late adopters to the PS5 - much like myself - won't be left in the dark.

The original Demon's Soul is getting a massive overhaul for the PS5, and now you can get a closer look at this gorgeous remake. #ign #ps5 #gaming

All of my Soulsborne friends who have seen this footage have literally lost their minds at this gameplay, citing that this was a beautiful trip down memory lane. Hell, this pretty much sealed the deal for their decisions to pre-order a PS5 at launch without even knowing what the billing for the console would be. Even though I was a huge fan of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and I enjoy watching speedruns and full playthroughs of Bloodborne, I can't say that I'm much of a Dark Souls/Demon's Souls fan, BUT this looks gorgeous. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of angry gamers torturing themselves through this when it drops. Sony also announced separately outside of the event that Demon’s Souls will indeed be a PS5 launch game. The bad news is that it will cost $70 and for some this will be more bad news as Demon’s Souls would be exclusive to PS5, much like the original game for PlayStation 3.

Check out the PlayStation Plus Collection, a new benefit for PS5.

This is Sony's alleged competitor for Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass. I'm sorry but as someone who came over from Xbox 360 and Xbox Live to PS4 and PS+ this console generation, I have to say that Sony's user interface for PlayStation Network is utter shit. There's absolutely NO excuse for them to fix this shit for the next console generation.

As for this though? That's a pretty sick deal to offer tons of last-gen games right out of the gate like that. I even spotted Monster Hunter: World in that line-up. That alone will rake you up about 300-500+ hours of gameplay before you're inclined to invest into the expansion for even more playtime. Hell, even the God of War (PS4) title is on there. That's worth it's weight in gold alone, especially with the tease for the sequel that Sony ended this conference with.

In comparison to Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate, I don't think this will stand a chance. Microsoft is catering not only to the console market, but to PC gamers as well with their subscriptions. Not to mention that Xbox Live is the better service all around in terms of functionality. Only time will tell whenever this new console generation starts this holiday season, but Sony definitely has to step their game up considerably to make an impression on me in that regard. If it wasn't for my few friends that I play Monster Hunter: World with and the fact that I luck out to renew my PlayStation Plus subscription via discounts online every year, I would have stopped paying for this ages ago. For Sony's sake, I hope they can turn this service around for the better instead of the constant disconnects/downtimes and constant freezes/lock-ups from trying to simply navigate the menus.

Desc: Sony reveals the price and release date for the Playstation 5 in this trailer. #ign

A $499 price tag for the disk drive and $399 for the diskless option. I'm not surprised in this in the least. Sony weren't going to allow Microsoft to best them in that regard where they failed during the last console generation. Reports are going around that the diskless option is sacrificing processing power so the console won't be as powerful, but take that information with a grain of salt.

There's a new God of War game landing on PS5 in 2021. Check out a cryptic teaser for God of War: Ragnarok. #ign #ps5 #gaming

Oh BOI... Kratos and Atreus' journey will continue on the PS5 with God of War: Ragnarok. I can't discuss too much of this without mentioning spoilers, but I'll say this much. I hope the "true" queen of the Valkyries is every bit of awesome that Sigrun was in the previous game. I'm just disappointed that this is another first-party title from PlayStation that won't see its sequel on the PlayStation 4. At least with Horizon: The Forbidden West, they confirmed that it would be playable on both PS5 and PS4 owners. As of this posting (9/24/2020), pre-orders are live across various retailers for the console's arrival this holiday season, but as it stands, most retailers are currently sold out with GameStop looking to get more units available in the coming weeks. Keep in mind that GameStop has a payment plan in place for purchases in their store(s) now, so you don't have to drop that $499+ all at once. Microsoft is doing a similar deal with the Xbox Series X.

PREVIEW -- WandaVision | Official Trailer | Disney

Welcome to WandaVision. Coming soon to Disney+. Marvel Studios' captivating new series "WandaVision" stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, and marks the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Social:

There's a bit of casting news to come out of this trailer too. Kat Dennings is returning to the MCU to reprise her role as Darcy Lewis from the Thor movies while Randall Park reprises his role as Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man & The Wasp. Benedict Cumberbatch is confirmed to appear in the series as Doctor Strange. Kathryn Hahn is credited as a "nory neighbor" in the credits, but she's referred to as Agnes in the trailer, causing many comic book savvy fans to speculate that she is Agatha Harkness, the woman who trained Wanda in magic in the comics. Teyonah Parris is making her MCU debut as the adult Monica Rambeau after appearing as a child in Captain Marvel. Parris looks like she would be a great fit for the part, even if she doesn't become Photon/Captain Marvel II in this series. They could easily plant the seeds for that though. Last but not least, Evan Peters is credited in an unspecified role. I think it would be hilarious if he appears in this as a multiverse version of Quicksilver since they do have the rights to do this following the Disney buyout of 20th Century Fox.

Overall, I thought this was fun tease at what is to come with this series with a lot of clever Easter eggs that I'm sure that savvy fans will be able to pick on with references to Scarlet Witch and Vision's scattered comic book history. It's going to be interesting what radical changes and/or explanations will be in store for Wanda following the events of Avengers: Endgame, especially for Vision after realizing that he died.

FYI this series is scheduled to release later this year to close out 2020 since The Falcon & The Winter Soldier had to be rescheduled due to complications to shoots during the COVID-19 pandemic. Either way, I'm just glad we're getting something new on the Marvel front, especially another great reason to keep paying for my Disney+ subscription.

PREVIEW -- Black Myth: Wukong - Official 13 Minutes Gameplay Trailer

Why the HELL aren't more people talking about this game!!!????

This looks absolutely amazing - from the visuals to the gameplay. IGN describes the gameplay akin to Dark Souls, but I'm seeing more God of War/Devil May Cry/Platinum Games-esque influences. Souls games could only dream about being able to handle battles against multiple opponents this seamlessly. I like the shapeshifting mechanic too as that seems to provide this Monkey King at few new attack options after taking the weapon of the enemy that he dispatched earlier in this trailer. I popped huge for the Naruto-esque shadow clones that came out to assist our hero during that boss fight. I can't say it enough though. From the visuals to the character models/designs and actual gameplay, this game looks simply amazing. This HAS to be next-gen title for sure, right? In either case, I'm DEFINITELY keeping my eyes glued for this one.

QUICKIE -- The New Mutants (2020)

The New Mutants is a 2020 American horror film in the superhero genre, based on the Marvel Comics team of the same name and distributed by 20th Century Studios. It is the thirteenth and final installment in the X-Men film series. The film was directed by Josh Boone from a screenplay he wrote with Knate Lee, and stars Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga. In the film, a group of young mutants held in a secret facility fight to save themselves.

Boone and Lee first began work on the film after Boone completed The Fault in Our Stars (2014). The pair pitched a potential film trilogy to X-Men producer Simon Kinberg, and in May 2015 were officially signed on to the project. Taylor-Joy and Williams were rumored to be cast in March 2016, and were confirmed over a year later when the rest of the cast filled out. Filming took place in Boston, Massachusetts, from July to September 2017, primarily at Medfield State Hospital, with an April 2018 release in mind. The film was then delayed while reshoots were planned and Disney began the process of acquiring production company 20th Century Fox. After the acquisition was completed, Boone returned to work on the film, and it was completed without reshoots in March 2020.

The New Mutants was finally theatrically released in the United States on August 28, 2020, after facing many delays from its original April 2018 date. Critics called the film "middling," "so-so," and "perfectly fine." Originally planned as the first in a trilogy of films, Disney's purchase of Fox reverted the film rights to Marvel Studios, making the possibility of future films unlikely.

Plot:

Danielle "Dani" Moonstar, a young Cheyenne Native American, escapes the destruction of her reservation during a tornado. Dani's father William hides her before an unseen entity kills him, leaving her the only survivor. After being knocked unconscious, Dani awakens in a hospital run by Dr. Cecilia Reyes. Reyes comforts Dani, telling her she is a mutant, and advises her to remain in the hospital until she learns what her abilities are and controls them.

Dani is introduced to four other young teenagers; Samuel "Sam" Guthrie, Illyana Rasputin, Roberto "Bobby" da Costa and Rahne Sinclair. Reyes has brought each of them to the hospital after they have all suffered tragedy; Sam brought down a whole mine on his father and coworkers, Roberto burned his girlfriend to death, Rahne escaped her religiously strict village after being branded as a witch, and Illyana was haunted by her past in child slavery, which manifests itself as otherworldly beings called the "Smile Men". All of them are manifesting mutant abilities; Roberto can manipulate solar energy, Sam can fly at jet speed, Illyana has inter-dimensional sorcery powers, and Rahne's lycanthropy allows her to turn into a wolf. Reyes herself is a powerful mutant who keeps her patients from leaving the facility by surrounding it with unbreakable force fields.

Collectively, the five of them believe that they are being trained to join the X-Men, hence the strict supervision, as well as Reyes reminding them that they are considered dangerous and should not leave until they have mastered their abilities. Dani immediately befriends Rahne, eventually forming a romantic relationship, while Illyana continues to antagonize Dani. When Dani fights back, she discovers that Illyana's only friend is a hand puppet of a purple dragon who she calls Lockheed. Soon, the group all begin to have horrifying visions of their past tragedies, one of which results in Rahne getting branded in the neck. Illyana deduces that the visions are the result of Dani's powers manifesting; she has the ability to create illusions based on a person's psyche. Reyes consults her employers, the Essex Corporation, who instruct her to collect Dani's DNA and have her euthanized.

As Reyes takes Dani away, Rahne suspects that something is wrong. Illyana and Sam are attacked by the Smile Men while Roberto tries to break through the barrier, which has shrunken down. Dani uses her powers to learn of Reyes's true intentions before Rahne arrives in half-wolf form and mauls Reyes, forcing her to flee. The five regroup and realize that, in order to escape, they have to kill Reyes to deprive the force fields of their power source. They find her and Reyes traps them, revealing that she was training them to be killers for Essex. Before she can crush Dani to death, the entity, Demon Bear, who had been following Dani and was the true reason her reservation was destroyed, arrives and mauls Reyes throwing her body down to the floor.

Illyana summons her powers to jump between "limbo" and recruits a real life version of Lockheed to take on Demon Bear. Eventually, Sam and Roberto join the fight, overcoming their insecurities in the process. Rahne tries to reach through to an unconscious Dani until she is forced to fight the Demon Bear alone. Dani is visited by her father's spirit, who encourages her to face her fear. Dani awakens and confronts Demon Bear, calming it into submission and allowing it to rest. As day breaks, the group, now calling themselves the New Mutants, learn that the force field is down and head out together to face the unknown.

Cast:

Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair:
A Scottish mutant who can turn into a wolf and is struggling to reconcile this with her religious beliefs. Williams was convinced to join the film after discussing the character's religious background with director Josh Boone, who identified with the comic book character due to his own strict religious upbringing.
Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin:
A Russian mutant with sorcery powers, she can manifest the Soulsword and use teleportation discs to travel. Illyana is the sister of Colossus, a member of the X-Men seen in previous films in the series. She has a purple dragon companion, Lockheed, in the film. Colbi Gannett portrays Illyana as a child.
Charlie Heaton as Samuel "Sam" Guthrie: An American mutant who can propel himself into the air, and is invulnerable while doing so.
Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes: A mentor to the group and a medical doctor who can generate protective fields around herself.
Blu Hunt as Danielle "Dani" Moonstar:
A Native American mutant who can create illusions based on the fears and desires of other people. The film includes a love story between Rahne and Dani, which Williams felt was a natural extension of the comic book characters having a telepathic connection. Boone described this as "the spine and focus" of the film's "character-driven stuff".
Henry Zaga as Roberto "Bobby" da Costa: A Brazilian mutant who can manipulate solar energy.
Adam Beach as William Lonestar: Dani's father of Cheyenne descent.

Additionally, the character Demon Bear is featured in the film. Thomas Kee appears as Sam Guthrie's father Thomas, while Happy Anderson portrays Reverend Craig from Rahne's village, both are the result of illusions created by Dani. The Smile Men are physically portrayed by Dustin Ceithamer while Marilyn Manson provided their voices. Archive footage of Dafne Keen as Laura and Rissa Rose Kilar, Salef Celiz, Aidan Kennedy, Nayah Murphy, Chase Cubia, Emma Teo, Vincenzo Lucatorto, Noell Jellison, Haley Glass, Ella Rowbotham, Hudson Wright, Sebeon Jackson, Allegra Novikov and Sophia Rosales as other mutants held prisoner by Alkali-Transigen from Logan is shown when Dani uses her abilities to read the mind of Dr. Reyes.

The Verdict:

(Laughs) I honestly don't have much to say about this film, despite all of the delays and alleged re-shoots after Disney bought out 20th Century Fox and got all of the X-Men properties under the House of Mouse and the Marvel umbrella in general. EW.com did a great write-up on all of the ups and downs this film suffered as a result of the constant delays and rewrites.

I know I'm biased toward Magik and Anya Taylor-Joy's portrayal of the character. I knew I was going to love her in this role from the second I saw the first few trailers for this.

I gave them a pass for finding a reason to get Lockheed in this film. I'm sure fans of Chris Claremont's X-Men run geeked out at this inclusion as much as I did.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I got EXACTLY what I wanted when I went into this film. I was eagerly anticipating Magik's live-action debut and she didn't disappoint in the least. Hell, we even got Lockheed as a bonus to that. Magik's powers weren't explained that well here (if at all...) but holy shit did they look awesome. In that regard, it makes me sad that we won't be seeing this story continue to peter out for three films like the trilogy that was originally set out prior to the Disney/20th Century Fox buyout. I could see where they wanted to go with this in later sequels.

There's horror elements in this film, but they are tame in comparison of the potential that they could have gone with this subject nature if this film maintained it's original R rating.

Speaking of the story, I can't complain too much about it as anyone who as somewhat familiar with these characters and their powers would be able to tell casual and new fans that the "horror" aspects of the New Mutants' powers could be explained due to Dani's mutant ability to create illusions based on the fears and desires of other people. In relation to the horror aspects of this film, I have to admit that I was really underwhelmed in that regard when this film was originally pitched as a R-rated affair when the trailers for this film were initially released. Now it seems like almost all of the horror sequences were straight out of the teaser trailers with little to nothing new in the final release. I would have preferred to see exactly how far that they were willing to go in terms of diving into the depths of that genre, but no dice here. It seemed like a completely missed opportunity too when the superhero genre has seemingly done all that it can do at this stage of the game.

Dr. Cecilia Reyes and Alice Braga's portrayal.

While we're on the subject of missed opportunities, I can't forget about how this film uses Dr. Cecilia Reyes. I have no issue with Alice Braga's performance, but this was a complete waste of one of my favorite part-time X-Men members. When I heard the character was going to appear in this film, I thought she was going to act as a pseudo-mentor of sorts and help the teens escape the facility as she was only treating them as any good doctor would and should. Whoever wrote this script has completely no understanding of that character in any way, shape, nor form. The narrative miscast her as a devious mutant doctor, loyal to the Essex Corporation to the bitter end.

Too bad we never got to see Nathaniel Essex himself in this film as it would have made for a better climatic finish than what we got with the team squaring off against the Demon Bear. We got that one mention of the Essex Corporation, which was mentioned in X-Men: Apocalypse as well without any further reference in neither Logan nor X-Men: Dark Phoenix either. This is pure speculation but I'm guessing that if Fox were allowed to make this three film trilogy that they originally intended with this spin-off, they would have built towards a final confrontation against Mr. Sinister in the third film where they had some members of the X-Men guest-starring as well since he had a hand to play in their fates too.

This film concludes with this team of unlikely heroes facing off against a Demon Bear... Don't laugh, I'm dead serious

That entire final climatic battle was merely to showcase everyone's powers more or less and use up whatever was left of the special effects budget. I can completely understand while casual fans and newcomers would be underwhelmed by this narrative as it wasn't a strong film in the least to end on, especially for something within the X-Men mythos. Unfortunately, that's the price that was paid when this film was originally set out to be the first in a trilogy of films involving these characters, only to be diminished to a singular cinematic outing.

The New Mutants with the actors and actresses portraying them in this film.

It makes me sad that we won't get to see more of these characters in this universe nor see where their adventures would have taken them next. This film played it safe for the most part and that proved to be a costly mistake as it results in an easily forgettable film within this overcrowded superhero genre. This would have been acceptable roughly two decades ago, but not today, when audiences have been conditioned to expect so much more out of these films and the genre itself. Like I said though, it bums me out even more as I loved the castings for these characters: Game of Thrones' Maise Williams as Rahne Sinclair, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin, Stranger Things' Charlie Heaton as Samuel "Sam" Guthrie, Blu Hunt as Danielle "Dani" Moonstar, and Henry Zaga as Roberto "Bobby" da Costa. I thought this was a great ensemble of actors to play these characters. I hope Marvel Studios provide them the opportunity to reprise these roles in some capacity. They were all great fits for these characters and I would love to see them return in some capacity. Alice Braga's Dr. Cecilia Reyes was fine for what she was worth in her portrayal of that character when she was given opportunities in the narrative to present herself as a kindly doctor that she's known for in the comics continuity. I thought she could have been the teens' confidant by the time the events of the film came to a close instead of her being mauled to death by the Demon Bear - if her wounds and gashes from Rahne weren't going to do her in already...

(Shrugs) I don't know... I just had a different ending in mind from how I saw where this was going to end. The ideal ending would have had the teens work together to overcome Dani's illusions for the first half of the film and confront the Demon Bear that was spiraling out of her control until she was able to tame it like things played out here, but the twist I would have thrown in was that she unleashes that force against a platoon of Essex Corporation soldiers/mutants under Mr. Sinister's control. Sinister would deem the hospital ran by Reyes to be a liability and wants it neutralized since he cannot control the mutants there after Reyes rebels against him with their combined efforts to escape. The film would then end with Reyes as a pseudo-Professor Xavier-style leader for this group of teens as they are on the run to confront Mr. Sinister himself as they look for clues where the main headquarters for Essex Corporation's base of operations and free more mutants like themselves from being used like weapons against humanity.

With my idea, maybe we could have gotten this line-up of members for the team by the third film. (Shrugs) Who knows?

You could end with Magik saying something along the lines of, "It's what the X-Men would do." Cue end credits.

Watch It or Don't Bother?

I know it's easy to write this film off as a complete waste of time, especially following the heights that this genre hit with Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. What people fail to realize is that these films are going to have to go back to a simpler time for a bit before they start hitting home runs again. It's obvious that this film will go down as whisper in a crowded room that is this superhero genre, but I still feel like this left me with a better impression than I had when I walked away from X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Did expect this film to blow me away, given that it will stand in history as the last X-Men film under the 20th Century Fox banner? No. It didn't blow me away with it's very few horror-themed elements either. This will be one of those films whereas you either love it or hate it - simply put. Like I said when I went into this, my expectations weren't high at all, so it helped in that regard.

I do feel like this film would have fared better as a television series, much in the same vein as Marvel's Runaways did for three seasons or Marvel's Cloak & Dagger for two seasons. Imagine if this crossed over with The Gifted? Oh the possibilities...

October 30th can't get here soon enough. Disney don't know, but I was really looking into cancelling my Disney+ package if they didn't offer anything new to watch either from this series or from their upcoming Marvel Studios-related content as I honestly haven't watched anything on the app since the first season of this series ended. There's a few theories floating around that WWE's Sasha Banks, who can be spotted in this trailer, is playing the live-action version of Star Wars Rebels' Sabine Wren. (Cringes) I sure as hell hope not... I always have seen Sabine to be Asian if she was depicted by anyone in a live-action platform. I'm still salty that they killed off Ming-Na Wen's character last season after one appearance so I sure as hell don't want to see Sasha Banks stay around long-term on this show. Plus if she's still working for WWE full-time why would she want to land a role like that would take her off of television and out of the ring for an extended time? Instead, I have an alternative idea on who she is. She could be an Inquisitor hunting down the Mandalorian and The Child. Consider that option as she's wearing a black robe instead of the typical brown Jedi robes that they are traditionally known to wear. For fans of the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, they were littered throughout that game as antagonists, so it would not be that much of a stretch to see them exist in this corner of Star Wars lore as well.

PREVIEW -- Animaniacs - Official Sneak Peek (2020)

In this official sneak peek, Hulu, Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation unveil a brand-new version of the iconic family-friendly cartoon series for the whole family, as the Warner siblings, Yakko and Wakko, and the Warner sister Dot, have a great time wreaking havoc and mayhem in the lives of everyone they meet. The Animaniacs revival premieres on Hulu on November 20, 2020.

I'm glad to see most of the entire original cast being brought back for this revival of this beloved cartoon that was WELL ahead of it's time in the '90s. Let's just hope that the censors don't butcher the hell out of this, even though I'm surprised it's going to Hulu instead of HBO Max. I mean, c'mon now... You KNOW more adults are going to be watching this than any kids who might stumble across this as newcomers. I'm anxious to see how much they push the envelope this time around.

Case in point.

Dragon Ball FighterZ always blows me away with their attention to detail with every new fighter added to this game. Master Roshi looks like an excellent addition to this already PACKED roster of fighters from this beloved anime. I have no idea who the last two characters for the season, but I have no doubts that they won't fail to impress like the line-up thus far. Now, if only ArcSys would do an edition of this game with all of the characters included to date, because I know I sure as hell won't be purchasing all of the season passes for this game as they are currently priced just to pick this up.

PREVIEW -- Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid - Lauren Shiba (Red Samurai Ranger)

After seeing her gameplay trailer above and seeing Maximillian stream a lot of her gameplay last night on his stream/channel, she looks like another solid addition to the game's growing roster. I'm bummed out that Kimberley Crossman couldn't lend her voice to the game to reprise her role as the character, but whoever her replacement is doesn't sound good at all. I'm sorry but it just doesn't. It blows my mind that this game is half-assing in terms of getting actors and actresses to reprise the roles of these characters for this game. You would think that they would be kicking down the doors to get at some of video game money. It's not like a lot of these actors do much after Power Rangers anyway. Not trying to be funny, but that's the truth for a majority of actors that appear in this franchise that don't use it as a launching pad to other acting gigs pretty much disappear into obscurity. To this day, I still feel bad for Crossman in general as Lauren Shiba doesn't appear in Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai until the final SIX episodes of that series' entire run. Despite the fact that she's the first female Red Ranger (technically Alpha Squad's SPD Red Ranger, Charlie, from Power Rangers SPD is the first, but Samurai chronologically takes place first in the timeline), she couldn't be marketed as such as her entire reveal/introduction would ruin the entire series' plot for those two seasons of Samurai

As a character in-game, Lauren seems like another powerhouse addition to the roster. She deals a lot of damage with her combos, much like RJ/Jungle Fury Purple Wolf Ranger, but it seems like that she's a heavy execution character - at least that's what impression I was given from watching Maximillian playing her and his comments about a lot of her 1-frame links and cancels/links into other moves. Regardless, she seems like a solid addition to anyone's team in this game.

I don't understand why the developers keep acting like it's a big mystery that Scorpina is the final character.

PREVIEW -- Gotham Knights - World Premiere Trailer | Official Gameplay Walkthrough

Watch the world premiere of Gotham Knights.

Batman is dead. It is now up to the Batman Family - Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin - to protect Gotham City, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. You must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save Gotham from chaos.

I'm calling bullshit that this isn't linked in any way to the Batman: Arkham games. The events of Batman/Bruce Wayne's demise plays out EXACTLY like the ending to Batman: Arkham Knight. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if it's revealed late into this game that Batman has been revived as one of the Talons in the Court of Owls or faked his own death just to force the Court of Owls out into the open. In either case, they had me sold onto this game from the moment they revealed that the Court of Owls were involved in the narrative. For those who don't know, the Court of Owls have been associated with some of the best modern narratives in Batman's lore, so I'm excited to see them brought into a video game.

Also, NONE of us should believe the developers when it comes to these games when the same developers (Rocksteady) over Batman: Arkham Knight said time and time again that the Arkham Knight was a brand new character and he was NOT Jason Todd, clearly lied to each and every single person who played that game and found that fact out to be 10000% false.

I wonder why the decided to go with Tim Drake as Robin and not with Damien Wayne? Then again, that would be a great excuse to have him aligned with the Owls later in the game then playable after you beat the game.

A game like this allows the Bat Family other than Batman shine in the spotlight - outside of challenge rooms or one-off DLC campaigns that most players aren't going to toy with anyway. That being said, I hope they really go in hard on creativity in terms of making each of these characters distinct from each other so they don't feel like a carbon copy of Batman, which was a common issue with a lot of playable characters in the Arkham games, where these optional characters would be playable but would be extremely underwhelming compared to Bats himself.

I'm nervous to see how they will handle the multiplayer aspect of this too because the multiplayer component in Arkham Origins left a lot to be desired while AI-controlled tag team battles in Arkham Knight were hit or miss at best as the AI merely mimicked what you did for the most part.

Watch the first gameplay walkthrough of Gotham Knights.

Get a glimpse of open-world Gotham City where Batgirl and Robin join forces to take on Mr. Freeze in one of several Villain encounters found within the city. They’ll use a variety of abilities, weapons, and unique combat moves to neutralize their foes.

Right off the bat, this looks JUST like any other Batman: Arkham game in terms of gameplay and traversing Gotham City. The only major difference seems to be how each character handles their unique takedowns and gadgets according to their skill set and/or unique abilities to distinguish them from each other. I like that you don't have split your time between every character in the game either as the developers said that you can play the entire game as the Gotham Knight of your choice and not switch characters at all if you choose to do so. Now the one one thing that's a cause of concern for me watching gameplay are the damage numbers and levels above enemies' heads as if this is a RPG instead of an action game. I don't know how I feel about this when there will be an artificial sense of difficulty for the game's enemies being higher level with more armor and/or health instead of like the previous games, where new enemy loadouts and archetypes changed up gameplay to make situations increasingly difficult as the game petered out. This just seems like lazy game design right off the bat. I'm already leery about these guys since this is the WB Montreal team that was responsible for the glitch-heavy mess that was Batman: Arkham Origins, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of a doubt for this new title.

PREVIEW -- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Official Teaser Trailer

The creators of the Batman: Arkham series are back with a brand new action-adventure shooter. The
most dangerous villains in the DC Universe have been forced to team up and take on a new mission: Kill the Justice League. Create Chaos in Metropolis. You are the Suicide Squad.

Coming in 2022 to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

If this is a team-based shooter in the vein of Overwatch, then count me out. As much as I love Overwatch's character designs and backstories, I just can't get into the multiplayer competitive deathmatch aspect of it. To be fair though, we don't get any actual gameplay from this trailer, just a tease at what the Squad is capable of before revealing a Brainiac-controlled Superman as the antagonist. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the entire Justice League are being controlled by Brainiac and Amanda Waller has the Squad sent out to terminate them. It sounds interesting for sure, but I can't say that this is something that I would go out of my way to play.

If the premise isn't crazy enough, then here's one more - Rocksteady has confirmed that this game is canonically part of the Arkhamverse of Batman-themed video games. That fact alone has intrigued me enough to keep my eye out for this though.

DC Fandome - Reveals & Trailers

DC FanDome is an entertainment and comic book convention held virtually online in DC Comics's online website under the dominion of the convention's name. The convention was created and announced on June 2020, as Warner Bros. and DC's response to San Diego Comic-Con's cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

BLACK ADAM

Dwayne Johnson is set to star as the DC Comics anti-hero in this film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

The DC FanDome panel presented concept art of what fans can expect from the Shazam spin-off, including Black Adam's costume.

Black Adam is scheduled to open December 22, 2021.

For me personally, anything that The Rock is involved in that's not directly associated with professional wrestling or The Fast & Furious, my interest drops to zero, but with this character, this is a special exception that I'm willing to take a gamble on. The Rock/Dwayne Johnson looks JUST like this character in his old age and could definitely pull this off for the most part. Sue me, I'm a sucker for the character after adoring his tragic love story with Isis in the pages of the New 52 graphic novel and honestly hoping for a live-action adaptation of that story in some capacity.

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing two all-new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah. With director Patty Jenkins back at the helm and Gal Gadot returning in the title role, “Wonder Woman 1984” is Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking “Wonder Woman,” which took in $822 million at the worldwide box office. The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot and Stephen Jones are producing the film. Rebecca Steel Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Marianne Jenkins, Geoff Johns, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Wesley Coller are the executive producers. Patty Jenkins directed from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns & David Callaham, story by Jenkins & Johns, based on characters from DC. Joining the director behind the scenes are several members of her “Wonder Woman” team, including director of photography Matthew Jensen, Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (“Amélie”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (“Topsy-Turvy”). Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson (“United 93”) is cutting the film. The music is by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer (“Dunkirk,” “The Lion King”). Warner Bros. Pictures Presents an Atlas Entertainment/Stone Quarry Production, a Patty Jenkins Film, “Wonder Woman 1984.” Set to open in theaters in 2D and 3D in select theaters and IMAX, it will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. This film is rated PG-13 for sequences of action and violence.

They seem to be going all in with the marketing to sell figures and dolls of that golden armor Wonder Woman. When I saw the initial concept art for the Cheetah I was concerned that she was going to look as fake in computer-generated action sequences as Ares did in the original film and my fears were confirmed here. I have no doubts in Kristen Wiig pulling this off as an actress, but I'm already dreading the action sequences just from seeing the what her "transformed" state will look like. I'm thrilled to see what Pedro Pascal (The Mandolarian himself) will do as Max Lord though. That should at least make up for any other shortcomings that may come up.

As of this posting (9/11/20), Patty Jenkins has announced that the film has been pushed back to a Christmas 2020 release.

THE BATMAN

From Warner Bros. Pictures comes “The Batman,” with director Matt Reeves (the “Planet of the Apes” films) at the helm and with Robert Pattinson (“Tenet,” “The Lighthouse,” “Good Time”) starring as Gotham City’s vigilante detective, Batman, and billionaire Bruce Wayne. Also in the star-studded ensemble as Gotham’s famous and infamous cast of characters are Zoë Kravitz (“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” “Mad Max: Fury Road”) as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano (“Love & Mercy,” “12 Years a Slave”) as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright (the “Hunger Games” films) as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro (the “Transformers” films) as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard (“The Magnificent Seven,” “Black Mass”) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Barry Keoghan (“Dunkirk”) as Officer Stanley Merkel; Jayme Lawson (“Farewell Amor”) as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis (the “Planet of the Apes” films, “Black Panther”) as Alfred; and Colin Farrell (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” “Dumbo”) as Oswald Cobblepot. “The Batman” was written by Matt Reeves & Peter Craig. Reeves and Dylan Clark (the “Planet of the Apes” films) are producing the film, with Simon Emanuel, Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada and Chantal Nong Vo serving as executive producers. Reeves’ behind-the-scenes creative team includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser (“Lion,” upcoming “Dune”); his “Planet of the Apes” production designer, James Chinlund; editors William Hoy (the “Planet of the Apes” films) and Tyler Nelson (“Rememory”); Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Dan Lemmon (“The Jungle Book”); Oscar-nominated SFX supervisor Dominic Tuohy (“1917,” “Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker”); Oscar-nominated sound mixer Stuart Wilson (“1917,” the “Star Wars” franchise); Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran (“1917,” “Little Women,” “Anna Karenina”) and costume designers Glyn Dillon (the “Star Wars” franchise) and David Crossman (“1917,” the “Star Wars” franchise); hair designer Zoe Tahir (upcoming “No Time to Die,” “Spectre”); and Oscar-nominated makeup designer Naomi Donne (“1917”). Based on characters from DC. Batman was created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. “The Batman” is set to open in theaters October 1, 2021 in select 3D and 2D and IMAX theaters and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

I'm still up in the air on how I feel about this guy playing Batman/Bruce Wayne, especially when Ben Affleck is set to reprise the role in the upcoming The Flash live-action movie (see below).

My biggest concern with this is how many villains this seems to be juggling right off the bat - The Penguin, The Riddler (obviously), and possibly Catwoman all in a single "reboot" film. I thought Hollywood would have learned their lessons from Spider-Man 3, Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin...

EZRA MILLER'S THE FLASH

We didn't get a trailer at DC Fandome, BUT they showed off these two production art with Miller's Flash getting a brand new costume and what looks like Michael Keaton's version of Batman in the background.

It was also confirmed that TV’s Arrowverse, DC Universe’s TV shows and DC movies all share the same multiverse, something an episode of TV’s The Flash essentially already confirmed with a short crossover with both film and TV’s version of the hero.

Arrowverse head Greg Berlanti said that particular crossover “[felt] like the beginning of a whole new generation of how we can do these things,” with Warner Bros.’ DC film exec Walter Hamada adding, “moving forward, there’s more opportunities for us to do things like this.”

In that regard, I give DC some props on. They aren't segregating their film and television properties like the Marvel Cinematic Universe did for so long until they completely scrapped their Marvel Television division and axed all of their Netflix Marvel television shows to produce content directly for Disney+. DC could have more fun with this multiverse film than Marvel could possibly dream with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness in a few more years.

ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE

Welcome to #TheSnyderCut. Streaming exclusively on #hbomax in 2021.

All that I'm going to say is that this better be worth all of the hype and waiting, especially after they have been teasing people and dragging this out for so long.

Seeing that DeSaad was going to be the "real" villain instead of Steppenwolf still doesn't really do anything for me, but I can see where they were going with this if they actually went the course with Justice League being a 3-film trilogy instead of one singular film.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD

THE SUICIDE SQUAD, A film by James Gunn. Only in theaters 2021. Starring: Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Joel Kinnaman, John Cena, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Michael Rooker, Flula Borg, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Steve Agee, Mayling Ng, Peter Capaldi, Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Storm Reid, Taika Waititi, Joaquín Cosío, and Juan Diego Botto

This features a STACKED roster of heroes, or rather anti-heroes, to star in this film. If anyone could pull this off, it's James Gunn. The guy definitely made me a believer in his work after seeing what he did with Guardians of the Galaxy for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'm sure he is going to be able to rehabilitate the Suicide Squad for DC.

AEW All Out (Sept. 5, 2020) -- Results & Afterthoughts

All Out was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It took place on September 5, 2020 at Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Florida. It was the second event in the All Out chronology.

The event was originally slated to take place in the Sears Center, in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, just like the previous edition of All Out were held Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker issued a disaster proclamation, the state's equivalent to a state of emergency, since March 9, which banned large public gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the state. Instead, the event was moved to Daily's Place, where all of AEW's events have been held since March.

Eleven matches were contested at the event, including two on The Buy In pre-show. In the main event, Jon Moxley defeated MJF to retain the AEW World Championship. In other prominent matches, Orange Cassidy defeated Chris Jericho in a Mimosa Mayhem match, FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) defeated Kenny Omega and Adam Page to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship, and Hikaru Shida defeated Thunder Rosa to retain the AEW Women's World Championship.

Match Results:

Singles Match
Joey Janela (with Sonny Kiss) def. Serpentico (with Luther)

A completely rotten match won by arguably the worst talent (or lack of) on the entire AEW roster with the second place candidate taking the L here. I have remotely no clue why you would even start your PPV off with a completely "nothing" match like this that does absolutely NOTHING to garner interest in buying the PPV later tonight.

I remember chatting with a friend and saying that Sonny Kiss was great back in Lucha Underground, but I feel that him being associated with Janela is going to only bring him down. Kiss' glass ceiling is going to be whether or not the TNT Network (and more importantly mainstream wrestling as a whole) is ready to accept an extremely flamboyant wrestler (that's not a complete gimmick nor parody) as a serious competitor. He fit right in with the exoticos in Lucha Underground, but it's hard for me to tell what his shelf life is going to be in this company long-term.

Tag Team Match
Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) def. The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds and John Silver)

I couldn't give a flying fuck about this match. It's the same as every other Private Party match, but just against the bottom of the rung guys in the Dark Order. The boys in PP do some nice spots but their basics STILL need a lot of work.

I LOVE Private Party's finish though.

I still can't help but chant "SPOTS! SPOTS! SPOTS!" during their entrance theme now after making that joke a while back.

Tooth and Nail Match
Big Swole def. Britt Baker (with Rebel) by knockout

I'm sure Big Swole is a nice person outside of wrestling in her personal life, but as an onscreen character and an in-ring talent, she's fucking horrible. I don't see why this company invested so much time into this nothing feud. While I love Britt Baker's heel persona, I'm fed up with all of these "role models" in mainstream wrestling, whether it's Madison Rayne in IMPACT as the "Locker Room Leader", Sasha Banks & Bayley in WWE as the "Golden Role Models", and here with Baker as the "Roll Model". I'm just sick and fed up of hearing that shit. Come up with something else original that not everyone and their grandmothers are using right now. I want to add that as much as I like Britt Baker's heel persona, I never thought her in-ring skills were much to write home about either, despite the fact she has a pretty sick submission finish. Reba's reactions (Rebel) was the best thing about this "cinematic" match - if you could even call it that. If this was supposed to be a dig at WWE's cinematic matches, then they definitely have a lot to learn in terms of cinematography.

Britt Baker stabbing herself with her own needle that loaded with numbing agent.

Britt Baker lost the match after falling victim to her own laughing gas/sedation.

At the end of the day, I thought the finish was creative, but Britt Baker buried it when she woke up immediately following the decision. She's a fucking dentist after all, so she should know how long laughing gas/sedation would keep someone under. C'mon, now. In either case, I'm ready for both of these women to move on to another feud.

Tag Team Match
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) def. Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus) (with Marko Stunt)

I hate to admit it, but I honestly liked this match more than the AEW Tag Title match later in this show. It didn't overstay it's welcome and it showed the best of both teams here, even though I wasn't too crazy about how much stuff Jungle Boy was kicking out of at the end. I thought the Jurassic Express should have pulled off the upset towards the end, but of course, the BTE boys had to turn things around for the win. To their credit though, I like seeing them working with a more serious "edge" them now as if they are teasing a heel turn too, much like they have been planting the seeds to the point that it's inevitable with Kenny Omega for the last few months now.

Matt Sydal pulled the Joker card and made his AEW debut in this match, only to deliver the first scary as hell moment on this show when he slipped and fell off the ropes while attempting to do a Shooting Star Press. That scared the hell out of me seeing it live and I thought we were watching that guy break his neck from how bad that was. Fortunately, he was fine and was able to complete the match. As of this posting (9/11/20) he hasn't reported any injuries.

Introducing Will Hobbs. One of AEW's best kept secrets tucked away on AEW Dark...

This match marked the standout performance of Will Hobbs. Now where have they been hiding this guy? Dude was on par with Big E's size while showing off Keith Lee's power and ability. This is a guy they should be featuring on Dynamite instead of regulating to Dark every week.

Seems like AEW is just pairing people off to rekindle old Lucha Underground dynamics and/of feuds as that was the exact vibe I got from Sonny Kiss eliminating Jake Hager. Kiss/Janela are already booked to face Hager/Jericho on Dynamite this week as payback from Jericho's brutal attack on Janela the week prior in his "warm-up" match for Cassidy later tonight.

Stupidest bump of the night (up to this point anyway) went to Brian Cage performing a Border Toss on Darby Allin trapped within a body bag full of thumb tacks to land on the corner of the stage/ramp. There was absolutely no reason to do this bump but a million and one ways that this could have ended horribly wrong. This wasn't cool nor amazing to watch. It was just fucking stupid.

I was fine with Lance Archer picking up the win here, but it pretty much spoiled the main event in a sense. You knew that AEW are marks for that New Japan style matches and feuds, so you know that they want to setup the Wrestle Kingdom rematch between Lance Archer and Jon Moxley at Full Gear.

Broken Rules Match
Matt Hardy def. Sammy Guevara
Had Hardy lost, he would have had to leave AEW

The match started out into the stadium arena where the Stadium Stampede Match took place at their last PPV and quickly spilled out into the backstage area/parking area. One thing led to another that set Sammy and Matt up on a raised platform that saw Sammy SPEAR Matt Hardy off the platform, seemingly to go through the two tables that were set up below. What happened instead was their lower bodies hit ONE of the tables while the back of Matt Hardy's head hit the unforgiving concrete below.

This was the moment where I was absolutely disgusted with this company. I've seen wrestling podcasters, journalists, wrestlers, and even the die-hard of their fanbase express their absolute disgust with how AEW handled this situation.

As of this posting (9/11/20), Reby Hardy (Matt's wife) has reported that Matt Hardy has suffered a concussion when he was checked out at the hospital that evening and was kept for more testing Sunday. On the other end of things, Tony Khan has been removing all of the blame on himself and pointing it towards the ring doctor who checked Hardy out and clarified that Matt was able to continue after administering a concussion impact test. There's no way in hell that they ran an impact test when the match was restarted within the span of 3-4 minutes after Matt Hardy was knocked out unconscious for at least 45 seconds. That tells you right there that there's no sort of concussion protocol in place nor that Tony Khan have the slightest idea of how to administer one, despite the fact that he owns a fucking football team. This entire incident showed me a complete lack of proper leadership and this money mark - that's all what he is at this point to me - only cares about booking his fantasy matches and jerking off to high spots no matter who gets hurt as long as it pops a rating. It's HIS fucking company. He could have easily overruled the doctor to stop this match. Stipulation or not, this match should have been stopped the moment Matt Hardy was knocked unconscious for his own safety. Instead, Khan is giving his company a very bad look not only to his fanbase but to the wrestling industry as a whole for this false narrative that he is painting with how this entire situation played out Saturday night.

But yet, you have ass-hats out there like Dave Meltzer is siding with Tony Khan on this decision.  Like seriously, how much is that dude paying you to blow him every week in your writing and radio shows dude? Anyone with a fully functioning brain could tell that Matt Hardy suffered a concussion in that match. You could see it in Ref Aubrey's face when it turned pale when she trying to get him to respond. That was arguably the hardest moment to watch as wrestling fan out of my 30+ years of being a fan. When I saw Matt Hardy's head hit that concrete and his body stiffened up like he was frozen, I thought we just saw that man die live on PPV and it legitimately scared the shit out of me for the second time tonight during this broadcast. If I saw a man die on this broadcast tonight, I can guarantee you that I would not have come back to watch this sport again.

For me personally? I'm siding with Konnan and Disco Inferno on this discussion.

Seriously, this should be the last straw and wake up call for every fan out there that fails to realize week to week that these reckless, downright STUPID, and completely unnecessary bumps (especially with or without crowds) aren't needed to make any match any better. That doesn't just go for AEW, but for all of modern wrestling as a whole.

Singles match for the AEW Women's World Championship
Hikaru Shida (c) defeated Thunder Rosa

I was hyped for this match ever since it was announced and they did the mock MMA contract signing for it between both respective champions.

Watching this live was pretty darn tough after the horror show that we witnessed with the Matt Hardy situation, but Rosa and Shida definitely had my favorite match of the evening by far. If you don't watch anything else from this shit-storm of a PPV, go out of your way to watch this match. This is EASILY the best thing on this show and not only the second best women's match in this company's history. That's shocking too when Thunder Rosa and Serena Deeb killed it on Dynamite a few days prior to this event.

Another completely unnecessary, reckless bump that could have EASILY ended horribly, like many things on this card.

The only knock I have against this match was the diving senton spot out onto the stage where if Thunder Rosa's head and neck was any closer to those steps from the entrance ramp that Shida would've killed or paralyzed her from the landing. Can ANYONE in this fucking company tell these people enough is enough when it comes to these reckless and completely unnecessary bumps? Seeing that spot really made me mad, especially after what we saw with Matt Hardy in the match prior to this.

Outside of that one knock, this match raised the bar for women's wrestling in this company. I felt sorry for the folks who had follow this act. NWA's Thunder Rosa may have lost here, but she has put on two standout performances in every match AEW has featured her in.

Eight-Man Tag Team Match
Matt Cardona, Scorpio Sky, and The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall) (with Allie and Brandi Rhodes) def. The Dark Order (Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) (with Anna Jay)

This was easily the bathroom break match of the night and should have served as the buffer following the Matt Hardy situation. Piss poor match order placement in regard of having these matches following that event. If the crowd was struggling to cope with what had transpired in the last match then they really didn't care about this shit. I know I sure as hell didn't. Hell, I didn't even know that Brodie Lee was even in this match until it started. I thought it was going to be full of more of standard losers of the Dark Order. To be fair though, Stu Grayson and Evil Uno are decent workers. I'll give them that much, but they are saddled with this gimmick that is utter shit, no matter what AEW does to polish this turd.

Can someone explain to me why Brandi Rhodes is already back to managing the Natural Nightmares? She couldn't sell that attack that her and Cody suffered for a few weeks at least? She stayed out for what felt like a goddamn week or two only to show up at the PPV like nothing happened. She only came out here to contribute to some of the run-ins in this match, namely to get some payback on Anna Jay (who strangled her to death during the assault on Cody) - when Allie could have done that to the same capacity. The Nightmare Family has all of these managers and extra sidekicks and associates that they are starting to look as foolish as the Dark Order as the weeks and months have rolled on since the start of AEW. Speaking of friends, Matt Cardona sure looks like he's taking full advantage of not being tested on WWE's Wellness Policy. Scorpio Sky seemed like he was just there to be the extra guy on this mash-up of guys who needed to be in this filler match that should have been relegated to Dynamite the following week.

Jim Ross got a lot of heat online for his wardrobe malfunction comment he made towards Anna Jay on commentary. I laughed hearing it live, but at the same time, it just adds to the laundry list of questionable moments of him on commentary since signing with this company. It just adds to the proof that JR doesn't give a flying fuck working here as long as he's just collecting that fat paycheck while squandering away his own credibility by endorsing this tomfoolery going on in this company with his name and voice attached to it.

And for the record, I can't speak for anyone else, but while I think that Dustin Rhodes has had a career renaissance since the tail end of his last WWE run to now in terms of his ring work, I don't give a damn about seeing him face Brodie Lee for the TNT title on Dynamite. I don't understand why they are rushing this match, along with having Brandi coming back so soon, when they could afford to space this out a bit. Let the Dark Order breathe a bit and garner more big wins if they are so dead set on establish them as this "dominant" faction (laughs), even though they are no less threatening than Aces & Eights (BEFORE Bully Ray was revealed as the leader) at this point.

Tag Team Match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship
FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Tully Blanchard) defeated Kenny Omega and Adam Page (c)

I watched this match twice - once live and again a few days later to make sure I didn't miss anything. I don't fault the talents involved, but I didn't think this was a very good match at all. The best tag team match on the card goes to the Young Bucks vs. Jurassic Express in my humble opinion. FTR against Omega and Page felt like a styles clash at multiple points in this match. The lack of a pumped, enthusiastic crowd for this match hurt it even more, along with the fact that Omega was half-assing the selling of the limbs that FTR were tirelessly working over. Working over Omega proved to be for nothing when Page was the one who got pinned when it was all said and done. Did I miss something or did they do the exact same finish twice before covering Hangman for the win?

After the match was won by FTR, Omega immediately quit selling his leg (even though he was barely doing it during this match, if at all) and went outside of the ring to get a table. He TEASED using it on Page to complete the heel turn that everyone is anticipating at this moment and thought better of it before storming into the back with the Young Bucks. They seem to be teasing a heel turn for the Elite collectively instead of solely with Omega. I'm fine with that if they are going forward with Hangman being a lone wolf babyface.

Even though I wasn't happy with the match as a whole, I'm glad that the tag team title are with FTR, who can confidently call themselves the first tag team to hold the NXT, RAW, SmackDown, AND AEW Tag Team Championships.

Mimosa Mayhem match
Orange Cassidy def. Chris Jericho by knocking him into the vat of mimosa
Match could be won by pinfall, submission, or fully submerging an opponent into a vat of mimosa

This was just there at this point as I kept looking at the clock in my room. It was past 11PM after this point. I get that AEW doesn't have too many PPVs over the year, but by this point we were clocking in roughly 6-7 hours of AEW content in one night if you watched the Countdown to All Out on TNT, the Buy-In Pre-show, and the Red Carpet specials on YouTube - along with this PPV in its entirety to this point. I was pretty much waiting for the bump into the mimosa and Jericho didn't disappoint in that regard at all.

Singles match for the AEW World Championship
Jon Moxley (c) defeated MJF (with Wardlow)
Moxley was banned from using the Paradigm Shift finishing move

Time and time again and I honestly don't see what's the fascination with Moxley as a world champion. I didn't see it in WWE and I REALLY don't see it here in AEW. Out of the three guys in The Shield - Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley), Moxley was the easily the short end of the stick. I think that it's ironic that while he went off on podcasts and interviews after leaving WWE that he was frustrated with being the "wacky Dean" character on WWE programming, he still gives off that vibe here when he's trying to splice in elements of Stone Cold Steve Austin too. I have tried to give him the benefit of a doubt but there hasn't been a single Moxley match in this company that I have seen that I have been blown away by in any capacity. Ambrose bored me to tears in WWE and Moxley is repeating that trend in AEW. I'm really starting to see why Vince McMahon (much like Brodie Lee) didn't have faith in him as a top draw. This match had a lot of ass-backwards psychology going on, with MJF working majority of the match from underneath as the heel while Moxley was in control as the babyface no less. It didn't make much sense to me, especially when they kept dragging this match along and it was minutes to midnight at this point of the show. Watching this match live, I was just beyond fed up and ready for this show to end.

A Paradigm Shift ends the match regardless of the fact it was banned.

Like I mentioned earlier, the end result wasn't a surprise in the least when you already knew that Lance Archer won the Casino Battle Royal for the future title shot against Moxley. This company isn't stupid. They want to do the Wrestle Kingdom rematch from this year that New Japan can't capitalize on. I will give AEW props for the finish here as that was a nice touch as it gives MJF an out and something to complain about like all shit-eating heels do.

Afterthoughts:

Overall, I thought this was AEW's most embarrassing PPV outing to date. I was downright disgusted with this company by the time it was over. This show, from top to bottom, should be a wake-up call for every wrestling fan thinking that this company does no wrong when that is the furthest thing away from being true.

I'm not the only one saying this either. You got a wealth of people calling out AEW for this bullshit tonight with a few noteworthy tweets below.

Without a shadow of a doubt, All Out (2020) will live on as a complete embarrassment for this company. The honeymoon period is CLEARLY over and we need to stop giving AEW a free pass when it comes to constructive criticism and grade them in the same capacity as IMPACT, WWE, or any other promotion under the sun. A lot of stupid shit went down on this show and AEW along with Tony Khan should be called out for it, no matter how much you may love the talent that works here or want to see an alternative "topple" WWE. If Khan expects AEW to survive long term and no one doesn't end up killing themselves on his programming then he needs to really start telling these guys and girls NO when it comes to some of this reckless abandon that I see on these shows on a regular basis. It's not cool - it's goddamn stupid and that's exactly what we need to be calling it as.

As of this posting (9/11/20), the All Out fallout edition of Dynamite has come and gone. Matt Hardy appeared on Dynamite, accompanied by his wife, Reby Hardy with their infant child in the crowd, and thanked all of the fans for their support in that dire situation on Saturday night. He apologized for scaring everyone, his family included, for putting them through that traumatic experience, but I felt that Tony Khan should have made a rare appearance on-camera and apologized not only to Matt Hardy, but Reby Hardy as well, for allowing that match to continue when Hardy wasn't in any shape to continue it just to do the finish spot. Instead, Khan continues to brush this whole situation under the rug and sweep all blame away from himself. If you go onto AEW's Twitter page, you will notice that they have removed all traces of Matt Hardy's infamous fall off their account. Between how this company has mishandled that situation and the stupidity that allowed on this program on a regular basis, I can't see Tony Khan as nothing more than a money mark. I'm sorry, but he hasn't shown me anything to make me think any different.

During an interview on Dynamite, Kenny Omega clarifies that everything between himself and Hangman Page is fine, but the more he talks it seems to be that he's teasing a return of "The Cleaner" from his days in New Japan while the Young Bucks seem to be going "all in" on this heel turn for The Elite. Omega needs to do something as compared to a year ago, his stock value in wrestling has drastically gone down. He's nowhere as the high profile free agent that was in high demand this time last year. Being a giving performer in this business is one thing, but you don't be so giving that it's detrimental to your own career. Omega and the Bucks should have taken the reigns at the start, much like Chris Jericho and THEN put over guys to bring them up to their level. One year later, it seems like it's going to be all for nothing when only the AEW die-hards still think those guys are in high demand anymore.

Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford revealed that Miro - the former "Bulgarian Brute" Rusev in WWE - is their "best man" for their pending wedding. Miro came out to the same song and dance as every other ex-WWE guy coming into this company or IMPACT Wrestling for the last decade and a half, saying how they were misused and denied a brass ring. I'm sorry but I'm not feeling sorry for him with that shit. Same goes for a lot of ex-WWE talent. No one held a gun to your head and MADE you sign those renewal contract deals for all of those years you stayed there. Don't be mad now that the checks stopped coming in. That was your own stupidity. The best way to get back at WWE is to rub your newfound success in their faces, not constantly bring up the past looking for some sort of a pity party. Rusev, now Miro, had a lot of high-profile matches for WWE. I can't say that they completely misused the guy when his ultimate downfall was him and his own wife, Lana, went to TMZ and told him about their real life wedding when they were in divorce storyline on camera. I don't blame WWE for burying him for killing kayfabe on what was a great gimmick and pairing at the time. In regard to Miro in AEW, I don't have any high expectations for this lackluster debut. All I'm going to say is that it's "nut up or shut up" time.

FTR held a "celebration" of sorts on Dynamite to celebrate their win with the entire tag team division, but I was more surprised that they didn't get their faces dunked into that sheet cake that they brought out. Instead, all of the tag teams at ringside were able to enjoy it at their leisure. That definitely has to be a first for modern wrestling that a cake was shown on television and not ruined in any capacity. On a positive note, I'm anxious to see who FTR works with next in hopes of elevating this tag team division because that mess with Hangman and Omega didn't click at all.

NWA's Women's Champion Thunder Rosa walked away from All Out in a losing effort, but I think between her match on Dynamite and on All Out, she opened a LOT of people's eyes who weren't aware of nor familiar with her talents prior to her appearances for this company. I'm glad to see that she's getting a chance to defend her title next week on Dynamite with one of her fellow Lucha Underground alumni, Ivelisse. Meanwhile, Shida seems to be pegged to resume her feud with Nyla Rose yet again. AEW signed Tay Conti from the Deadly Draw Women's Tag Team Tournament this week. She lost to Rose on Dynamite, but I hope we see more of her. She's still pretty green, despite being trained at the WWE Performance Center, but she shows a lot of promise, especially more than a lot of the other women in that division.

As for that Dustin Rhodes vs. Brodie Lee match for the TNT Championship, I walked out of the living room and did the dishes in the kitchen over watching the bulk of that match. Naturally (no pun intended), Dustin lost. Who didn't see that coming? They aren't going to take that title off of Brodie Lee after that massive injury angle they did with Cody to write him off television. He's probably isn't going to lose that title until Cody is ready to come back. I doubt we have to wait long as they were airing vignettes for him during All Out and he's being advertised for appearing on another television show, so we know he's not hurt. It's not like this company keeps up much kayfabe to begin with.
