Personally? I still feel that this is twenty years too late. It's not like they need Will Smith's name to garner interest, but the generation (mostly mine in their mid/late twenties to early thirties and up) that loved the original will be the only ones who care about this sequel. I will admit that this does look pretty cool though - a much welcome upgrade from the original film that looked cheesy even back then outside of the aerial combat battles.

I would be lying if I said I wouldn't be the theaters come June 24th for this. Good or bad, I'm anxious to see how this plays out.

I'm not even mad at Vivica A. Fox, Bill Pullman, and Jeff Goldblum in there for that paycheck. Pullman's still one of my all-time favorite fictional Presidents and I hope he gets another dynamic speech in this film.

Like I was chatting about with my father about (since we watched the original together in the movie theater), I'm SOOO glad Will Smith isn't in this film now that I'm thinking about it. His name tends to distract from any other actors in a film and everyone tends to make it about him no matter who is the protagonist otherwise. In this case, this film has the chance sink or swim without him on it's own two feet.
